Close your eyes and open your ears, as we're about to hear the Bat whisper! The Phantom Erik brings you this aptly titled 1930 feature as an initiation into the great 'talkie' era. Another popular hit in a long line of 'old, dark house' mysteries, "The Bat Whispers" stands out for its stark cinematography, angled framing and the eerie voice of the Bat, something that struck fear into the hearts of audiences just discovering voices and sounds in film. Director Roland West returns to remake his 1926 film, "The Bat", and brings with him the techniques he learned working with German directors and actors to America to become one of the forefathers of film noir. With the snowstorm that just hit Minnesota, the Phantom Erik is taking this one solo; though we're sure Lester sends his warm regards while visiting his parents in sunny Arizona.
