Yoshitha Rajapakse, the second son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and head of the Prime Minister's Task Force, has said there was no truth in reports that he had attacked popular Sinhala singer Raj Weeraratne.

He also said that he had nothing to do with the resignation of singer Raj Weeraratne from the post of director of the National Youth Services Council.

Popular singer Raj Weeraratne, who joined the National Youth Services Council last year, announced his resignation yesterday. He said in a letter to Minister Namal Rajapaksa that he was stepping down due to unavoidable tasks.

However, Yoshitha Rajapakse, the second son of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse and head of the Prime Minister's Task Force, has reportedly resigned after slapping Raj in the cheek. Rajapaksa also said that reports on social media that he had attacked Raj were baseless. He further said that he had met Raj at a function a few days back and had not maintained any contact with him since then. Singer Raj Weeraratne was the non-executive director of the National Youth Services Council.
