The main opposition United People's Power has accused the current government of not abandoning its efforts to save the surviving Sunday terrorist attacks and the masterminds behind them.

The party also said that the government was trying to divert the implementation of the recommendations made by the Commission of Inquiry into the Sunday attacks.

The press conference of the United People's Power was held in Colombo yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament Nalin Bandara also raised the question of whether some prominent personalities had met the Mahanayake Theras as part of an agenda to cover up the mastermind behind the Sunday attack.

Addressing the gathering, he said senior Deputy Superintendent of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon, among others, had complained to the Asgiriya and Malwatta Peetha Mahanayake Theras about the recommendations in the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Sunday attacks on the head of state.

According to the laws we know, they cannot make such a complaint or comment to the media.

They have also challenged the powers of President Gotabhaya by challenging the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

Do you know the Minister of Public Safety Sarath Weerasekara and the President of Polima in connection with this meeting? He said it appeared to be a planned meeting.
