A heavy vehicle collided head-on with a bus in the Talawakkala police division.

Two people were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a heavy vehicle in the area in front of the Talawakkala railway station on Hatton Main Road in Talawakkala at around 7 this morning, police said.

A bus heading towards Talawakkala St. Clair area from Nuwara Eliya to a garment factory collided with a heavy vehicle traveling from Hatton to Nuwara Eliya.

The driver of the lorry and the driver of the bus were injured in the accident. About 30 minutes after the accident, traffic on the Hutton-Nuwara Eliya road was disrupted. Preliminary investigations by the police have revealed that the accident took place as the driver of the heavy vehicle could not control his speed.

Talawakkala police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
