Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera has reportedly passed away on social media.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital with a corona virus infection.

Hospital sources said his condition had improved.

United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Nalin Bandara has said that the news spread on social media that former minister Mangala Samaraweera has passed away is untrue.

Mangala Samaraweera, who is suffering from corona infection, is currently being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

In this situation, news has been shared on social media that Mangala Samaraweera has died without any treatment. He further added that the news so shared was not true.
