President's Counsel MA Sumanthiran, TNA Media Spokesperson and Member of Parliament for Jaffna District has stated that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, will respond positively to Sri Lanka. He also mentioned that he is in constant touch with the office of the High Commissioner.

He emphasized that the Sri Lankan government was in no hurry to hold talks with the British High Commission on the UN Human Rights Council resolution, and called for the implementation of the UN Human Rights Council resolution. The 48th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is set to begin on September 13. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights will submit an oral statement on the day. It is noteworthy that he will also publish his observations on Sri Lanka

It has been reported that the Sri Lankan government will meet with the British High Commissioner. President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has already announced his readiness to work with the UN.

Sumanthiran, who has been handling the UN affairs on behalf of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), said this when asked by the government whether the government was rejecting the UN resolution outright.

He added that on a number of occasions, the international community, including the United Nations, and we have called for the full implementation of the resolution adopted by the United Nations Human Rights Council. But so far no action has been taken.

It is our hope and hope that UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet will ensure a spectacular response to Sri Lanka's failure to take any action at the next meeting, including the collection of evidence already being carried out by her office.
