The next 6 weeks are dangerous for Sri Lanka. Therefore, people should follow the health guidelines and be vigilant, said Health Minister Pavithra Vanniyarachchi.
The Minister said this during a discussion with the heads of the media on Saturday. The Minister further commented,
Everyone knows what the current situation in the country is. People should be encouraged to follow health care guidelines in order to cope with it.
In Sri Lanka, 51 percent have been vaccinated against the first phase. The second phase of vaccination will be available in mid-September.
This period is the most critical. The government is fully focused on avoiding possible deaths.
Eighty percent of those infected have no symptoms at all. That said, this is a very dangerous situation.
