Iluppaikkadavu police on Thursday (12) morning recovered a sea turtle weighing more than 50 kg which was hidden alive in a house in the third Pitti village in the Manthai West Divisional Secretariat Division.

-The sea turtle has been rescued alive by the police who rushed to the spot based on the confidential information available to the Iluppaikkadavu police.

Police have arrested a person on the charge of possessing a sea turtle. The arrested suspect was a 42-year-old man from the Third Pitty area, police said. The rescued turtle has been brought to the Iluppaikkadavu police station and steps have been taken to hand over the turtle to the Wildlife Department.

It is noteworthy that the Iluppaikkadavu police are conducting further investigations into the arrested person.
