An incident has taken place in the early hours of today when a person was admitted to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital after being injured in a shooting at a tractor which was illegally loading sand in violation of a police signal in the Karadiyanaru area in Batticaloa, police said.

One person was seriously injured when the tractor overturned and fired at the tractor as the police tried to stop the tractor when it was being taken to the tractor at 3 am this morning at the Karadiyanaru Pangudaveli junction.
