_Army Commander Shavendra Silva has said that a key meeting will be held today under the chairmanship of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to discuss the current developments regarding the corona virus in Sri Lanka. He made the remarks during an exclusive interview with a Southern English language media on Tuesday. Today's meeting is considered important as the number of people infected with the corona virus is increasing and daily deaths are at their peak. In addition, the meeting will take place as calls continue to be made for a nationwide freeze to curb the rapid spread of the virus. However, the army chief said that no decision had been taken yet on the implementation of the nationwide embargo. He said these issues would also be discussed at today's meeting. He said the government was keen not to impose the embargo as it would further affect the economy. However, it is expected that the government will continue to ban travel between provinces and implement some more measures to control the spread of the virus.
