_The girl's father and father's sister have been arrested by the Nuwara Eliya police on charges of tying a 14-year-old girl in a chain and keeping her in a chicken coop. Neighbors told police that the girl had untied the chain and asked for food at a nearby house while she was tied up. According to neighbors, a team comprising Nuwara Eliya Chief Police Officer Nilanda Bandara rescued the girl and arrested the suspects. The investigation revealed that the girl's mother was living separately in a nearby house and that she had three more children and that the girl had been staying at her father's sister's house for seven years. According to the girl's father, The girl's father said that no matter how much food was given to her, she would go to nearby houses and steal food, and in the early days she stayed at her sister's house because she was stubborn enough to go to school. Meanwhile, the father and his aunt have been arrested on charges of abusing the girl and will be produced in court till August 2.
