_While in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department, Rishad Bathiudeen was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to ill health. While he used a separate toilet there, CIT officials were on the lookout when he went to use it every day. Accordingly, CID officials observed that Rishad Bediuzzaman was secretly holding a piece of paper in his palm when he went to the toilet. Rishad Bediuzzaman then went into the toilet and threw the piece of paper in his hand out the window. When the criminal investigation officers who were there at the time took it and examined it, it was revealed that there were several pills in it. When the doctor in charge of the 52nd ward where Rishad Bathiudeen was staying presented the pills and Rishad Bediuzzaman, it was revealed that the pills given to him to drink had been thrown away. The doctor then recommended that Rishad complete his treatment and be taken back to the CID. Accordingly, Rishad Bathiudeen was brought to the Criminal Investigation Department.
