Ali Sabri, Minister of Justice and Presidential Counsel, has stated that permission will be granted in the near future to complete the application forms for the post of Justice of the Peace in Tamil.

The application forms for the post of Justice of the Peace state that "the application must be completed in Sinhala or English". Minister of Justice Jeevan Thondaman has stated this on his Facebook page after contacting the Minister of Justice.

Jeevan Thondaman's Facebook post further stated, “There was a news that permission was denied to complete the application for the post of Justice of the Peace in Tamil. Following this, Minister of Justice Ali Sabri, President's Counsel, said that appropriate action would be taken and that the Tamil language would be adopted in the near future, "Jeevan Thondaman posted.
