Any reasonable homeowner would have hired an arborist to remove it years ago. It was scrawny by anyone's standards. What must have been a magnificent dogwood tree at one time, what was left standing now was a mere shell. The trunk clearly had been eaten away by insects or rotted by disease. On one side you could see all the way to its core. A few persistent branches graced the upper most portion of the tree determined to embrace life until it could sustain it no more.
