Today is a perfect autumn day: clear blue skies, cool air, brightly colored trees with leaves of orange, red and gold. While I love this time of year there is a certain melancholy that accompanies it. As I sit in my office and gaze out at the thousands of trees that surround me, I watch leaves cascading to the ground, not singularly as one might suspect but in amounts of hundreds simultaneously. Why do I hold on so tightly to that which I am meant to relinquish? Why is letting go so difficult?
