Anthem Ventura is a church for the city of Ventura helping people find their way back to God. Anthem Ventura is part of a family of churches in Ventura County that seeks to bring a movement of reproducing churches empowered by the Gospel of Jesus to love and serve southern California and the world.

Big Idea:
Jesus deftly navigates through the various reasons why we wouldn’t engage spiritual life in his conversation with the Samaritan woman. The value of this passage is that it shows us that whatever the issue is, there is an answer in Jesus.

John the Baptist speaks words that should be a motto for all believers when he says “He must increase, I must decrease.” Jesus is the story and all of us are invited to point people to the source of life.

God’s deep love for this world has shaped his redemptive posture. The redemptive posture has invited all people to experience a spiritual rebirth by the Spirit of God in which we experience salvation, eternal life and entry into the light.

Jesus’ calling of his disciples is something that echoes throughout history as each of us is invited to come and see the Lord. This is a great moment to stop and reflect on your own calling as a disciple of Jesus.

Big Idea: Jesus’ ministry begins with the testimony of John (the voice crying out in the wilderness) — he both identifies and prophecies about Jesus’ ministry. Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and the one who gives us the Holy Spirit.

Big Idea: The enemy is out there, therefore we all need to be on our guard, particularly the elders who watch over the church, don’t get lazy, there is much work to do!

Big Idea: The Gospel has a dramatic effect on how we live with and interact with other believers — the gifts that we have been given allow God’s grace to be shared among other believers so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

Jesus didn’t die on the cross to leave you hanging now. He is going to see us through every part of life. Through Romans 8, Paul gives us practical wisdom for how to grow a hope that will not let us down.
The message of the gospel is we need hope. No matter how good or bad life is. We need redemption. We need a savior. We need saving. We need rescuing. We need Jesus.
Peter sets the identity for all believers, for all time, by applying the finished work of Jesus to us, demonstrating the fulfillment of God’s promise and the completeness of the redeeming work of Jesus, and shaping how we live in light of that reality.
Our new “purity” in Christ opens the door for a new kind of love to flow out of us creating a redemption community.
The precious blood of Christ is the source of our hope and also the source of our motivation to live rightly. The privilege to live the resurrection life was bought with Christ’s blood.
In light of Christ’s past work and our future inheritance, we are called to live well, wisely, and holy here and now.
As the people of Jesus, there is a call on us to live holy, embodying the holiness of Christ in a world that lives contrary to holiness.

The Christian world has scattered throughout the Roman Empire, citizenship and culture are huge questions and Peter writes a letter to answer questions about what it means to be a follower of Jesus in a foreign land. So much of our identity is highlighted in Peter’s language to open this letter. With his words, we can easily step into the role of the recipients of this letter. Who is God, what has he done, who am I, and how then should I live will be a framework for understanding Peter’s writing.

In a world of chaos, confusion, fear, and anxiety, the call from Jesus is to become a non-anxious presence.

Wisdom says “Come and eat my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed”. Woman folly is loud who are you going to listen to. Wisdom is a choice.
Because wisdom comes from God, it affects our character, the very nature of who we are. We are being formed and shaped and God’s way shapes us in a very specific way. Proverbs provide insight into what that character looks like lived out.
Brent Hisaysu, lead pastor of Harvest Ventura, shares with us the way of wisdom teaches us about money… not just how to spend it, but our attitude and pursuit, our love and trust, and our spending and saving. When God is our treasure, money takes its proper place in our hearts.
Terry Fouche, lead pastor of Mercy Town Church in Pasadena share with us that relationships are so often where the “rubber meets the road” in our hearing and doing. We can have lofty ideals of being faithful people, but then it has to be lived out in the context of life with other people. God’s wisdom speaks directly to many of our key relationships.
