We are going to keep looking at the idea of the wilderness and look at the example Jesus gave us of how to be people who live well in the wilderness. Today, though, I wanted to read a passage from Philippians 3.
If you are anything like me then these last couple weeks have been exhausting. We are all probably taking in more information than we normally do while also trying to manage more change than we normally do as well. Many of us are, I assume, getting tired. I wanted to try and hop on this morning and share a motivational verse in order to get you feeling well for the day, but I honestly think that at times like this what we need is more caution, more rest, and more thoughtfulness instead of just another shot of caffeine or another source of information to leave you feeling even more bloated.
So, this morning I want to share an encouragement to remember your center and encourage you to live out of that center today and this week. Especially with so much more information than normal coming out, if we are not careful to center ourselves, we will be quickly swept away by someone else’s central concern.
Now, please hear what I’m saying. I am not saying this pandemic is not important and that our understanding of what to do is not incredibly essential. What I’m saying is that we all have a tendency and are being constantly tempted to make anything other than Christ our center. Whether that is fear of the unknown, apathy because of prolonged discomfort, or anger because of a loss, we all are being tempted to move away from Christ instead of towered Him.
We as Believers already decided when we first followed Christ that He alone would be the new center of our life. So, I hope this passage from Philippians 3:7-14 can help ground you and center you on Jesus and His work in you.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for your goodness to us. Thank you for sending your Son to redeem us. Thank you for continuing to sustain and guide us as we seek to live for you. Please help us to live in to our Christian identity and to press further in to seeking you, even during this time. Bless us as we work, spend time with our loved ones, enjoy down time, and live today. Amen.
