At our previous house, we had a plant called a (African) Flame Lily, and it's Zimbabwe's national flower. It would come up during the summer months (October - March) but only bloom December/January, usually in time for a beautiful Christmas display.

Anyway, shortly after our son died, a visitor asked what the plant's name was, but I could not remember. He then just called it "my child's lily". Although that plant was in the garden for the previous +-15 years, it was located in one sunny...
