On tonight’s edition of Bring It On!, hosts Clarence Boone and Gloria Howell spend the hour with Alexis Briggins, a doctoral candidate in mental health counseling, and Muhammad Saahir, a licensed mental health counselor and owner of Blue Sofa Counseling Services. They are here to explore mental health dynamics within the Black community, with a particular focus on the college experience.

Alexis BrigginsAlexis Briggins (she/her) is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research sits at the intersection of race, relationships, and sexuality within Black and Black/White biracial communities, where she examines how family racial socialization shapes romantic relationships in adulthood. A McNair Scholar, Holmes Scholar, and member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Alexis is committed to making psychology accessible, culturally responsive, and community-centered.
