Lacrosse. It’s kind of like hockey, but played on a grassy field with a ball instead of a puck. Players use sticks attached to netted scoops to try to pitch the ball into the opposing team’s net. Women’s lacrosse will make its historic debut at the Olympic Games in 2028. Girls lacrosse is surging in popularity in the Hoosier state. The Indiana High School Athletic Association upgraded it to a so-called “emerging sport” starting with the 2025-206 school year, paving the way for officially sanctioned high school lacrosse games. Here in B-town a team called Bloomington Pride is ready for their chance to shine. We hear from Pride coach Leslie Cook, who has now partnered with Girls Inc to create a lacrosse program for girls in middle school. M.E. Mildenberg from the Indiana Girls Lacrosse Association weighs in on the chances that high school girls will have a fair opportunity to play lacrosse in Indiana.
