Up next, in recognition of May Day this Friday, WFHB Rewind’s archive segment this week is about labor in Indiana. The following is an excerpt from a December 17, 2013 episode of Interchange titled “The Wages of Labor: Bloomington’s Industrial Past.” Host Trish Kerle speaks with Labor Studies scholar and activist Joe Varga about industrialization and deindustrialization in Indiana with an emphasis on the presence of General Electric, which founded its Bloomington plant in 1955 and announced it would close in 2010. It officially closed the local facilities in 2016.

And now, the music department welcomed Australian artist Hatchie in the studio for a Firehouse Session recorded on April 11th ahead of her headlining set at WIUX’s Culture Shock. It landed right in the middle of our Spring Fund Drive, so we pre-recorded and aired it on April 20th — still felt immediate, still felt special.
