For this 108th episode of Hearabouts: Asian American Midwest Radio, we are thrilled to feature Maya Best, a recent M.A. graduate in Sociology from Indiana University Bloomington. Maya reflects on growing up in Bloomington, and her ethnographic fieldwork as a Fulbright fellow in Tokyo, Japan. She also shares what her current higher-ed work at Carnegie Mellon University involves, where she guides students in the Dietrich College and the Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics through study abroad programs, scholarships, and community-engaged learning.
