Fast-food chain Burger King unveiled an ad Wednesday designed to trigger Google Home devices to search for “Whopper” on Google and read out the finding from Wikipedia. But it resulted in users’ describing BK’s Whopper sandwich in some less-than-flattering terms and raised questions about whether marketing tactics have become too invasive. Because Wikipedia can be edited by users, within the first few hours of the ad’s release the Whopper’s definition had been changed to include items like “cyanide” as an ingredient.
