One person is dead and three others were seriously injured after a retaining wall collapsed in Kailua on Friday, authorities said.

HFD, Honolulu police and Emergency Medical Services responded around noon to reports of a collapsed retaining wall, approximately 15 feet in height, on Akiikii Place with possible people buried in debris.

HFD said bystanders used a mini excavator in an attempt to get to the trapped victims before firefighters took over.
