Upwards of 50,000 people are expected to line the shores of Ala Moana Beach Park Monday night as candle-lit lanterns are set afloat in the annual Shinnyo Lantern Hawaii ceremony to remember loved ones lost. The organization said this year’s theme is “Many Rivers, One Ocean.” Organizers said they hope the ceremony can offer a space, physical and emotional, for residents and visitors to experience a sense of comfort and healing.
