Show some kindness, our people are people. That's the message from Gisborne District Council following an almost 40 percent hike in abuse and threats against staff. Incidents range from physical assaults to verbal abuse and threatening behaviour. And it's not alone. Auckland Council says aggressive and violent behavour towards staff peaked at up to a hundred incidents a month. The worst offenders: dog owners and library pool and park users. While last year Wellington City Council recorded on average 64 personal confrontations a month.
