But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. Gen 3:3

What was lost to man in Eden was not just God??s presence nor the beautiful garden. The great loss was the power to live forever. What would have happened if Adam and Eve obeyed and never ate the forbidden fruit? They would have lived and lived and never died. If there is ever to be a restoration to the original glory, it would not be getting back to Eden nor being with God in heaven?the restoration worth seeking is inheriting eternal life. This was God??s original intent for man. Death was and still is the price to be paid for sin. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.(Rom 6:23)

The ultimate hope the bible seeks to communicate is the hope to live forever- not as a ghost in heaven but as a fleshly human right here on earth.
