For the first time ever, the players are selecting their own All-Pro team. For years the AP was the lone selector of All-Pro. But now the Player’s Association is joining the fray. The players voted on their own All-Pro team. And they selected 3 Eagles to the inaugural Players All-Pro Team. Jason Kelce at center. Lane Johnson at Left Tackle. And finally, Darius Slay at Cornerback. There is no second-team All-Pro in the players association list.

The way voting worked, is players could not vote for themselves or for teammates. Additionally, they only voted for the positions they play in, or the ones they line up against. So offensive linemen voted on other offensive linemen, as well as defensive linemen. Cornerbacks voted on fellow corners and wide receivers. Etc.

San Francisco led all team’s with 4 selections. Though that is a bit slanted because one of their 4 players selected was their Fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and most teams don’t even carry a fullback anymore. Their other 3 do seem fair though. Left Tackle Trent Williams, Edge Rusher Nick Bosa, and Off-Ball Lineback. Kansas City had 3 like the Eagles did. And no one can really argue with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce being named the first-team QB and Tight End. Their third player was Punter Tommy Townsend. And to be honest, I have not paid enough attention to the Chiefs’ Punter to weigh in on whether that is fair or not.

Jason Kelce has been named to 4 All-Pro teams. And given that he is the lone offensive lineman to play all 17 games and give up 0 sacks this season, a 5th may very well be in his future. He can now also add one Player’s Association to his ever-growing Hall of Fame resume. Lane Johnson has finally started to get the respect he deserves lately. Last year he was named an All-Pro finally. Like Jason Kelce, he has an ongoing streak of games without allowing a sack. Though he did miss the last 3 games which may hurt his case to make the AP All-Pro Team. And Darius Slay has been near the top of QB rating against all season.

Hasson Reddick missing out is a disappointment. But to be fair it is a very tough position to crack through, with there being several elite players and only two slots. Also weird to see Aaron Donald make it. There is no argument against him being an All-Time great, but he missed so many games this season. Jalen Hurts may have had a case, but missing two games probably ended his chances. Especially with Patrick Mahomes being equally great to him.

The Eagles got a ton of love in the All-Star voting, and now in the player’s All-Pro Team. If that trend continues, they should get love from the AP All-Pro team as well.
