The Eagles are getting set to face the Giants in the playoffs. How can we expect the match-up to go? Is there any reason to be nervous? To get some insight, The Best Show Ever talked to Jimmy Kempski from The Philly Voice. What are the keys to the Eagles winning? How do Jalen Hurts and Lane Johnson feel going into the week of practice? Jimmy Kempski discussed that and more. Here is some of what he had to say.

On the Matchup vs the Giants

“What team out there would you rather play than a Giants team that they have won 24 of the last 30 matchups against? They have a 9-game home winning streak against this team. They blew them out earlier in the year 48-22… I mean, if their path to the Super Bowl is Daniel Jones, and then next week presumably Brock Purdy, sign up for that all day. This Giants team has some talented players. But if you could handpick an ideal matchup for the second round I don’t know if you could be happier with the matchup that they have. Could they lose? Absolutely. But to be nervous about this team in particular? There is no question in my mind the Giants are the worst team left in the playoffs, and the Eagles get to play them.”

On the Health of Jalen Hurts

“He is not going to be 100% for the game. To be determined how close he can get. In the last game, we saw a player who was not very close to being 100%. His throwing was s a little off. They were very conservative in terms of putting him in harm’s way. If he could be anywhere near the player he was for the Eagles in the first 3 months of the year, they should have no problem with the Giants… If he can’t take a hit, without that shoulder being affected… then that is troublesome. We will see. I’m not a doctor. Only he can really know how he feels. He is going to say he feels fine. But we won’t know that until Saturday.”

On the Status Of Lane Johnson

“His life is going to suck through this injury. I have never had a sports hernia before. But my understanding is they are really difficult to play with. Very painful. He will be able to play, it is just pain management… We have seen in the past players play with it. Desean Jackson opted not to have surgery and play with it and then was very quickly out. We will see how that goes. He was encouraged by the way he responded when he first practiced with it. That is an encouraging sign. He is a very honest person. So when he says he is encouraged, you can take his word for it.

But we won’t know until he is on the field and is blocking NFL edge rushers. This is an opponent in the Giants where they don’t have great rushers… It is the next round where they will need Lane Johnson to be at the top of his game. Whether they face the Cowboys and Parsons, or the 49ers and Bosa. He is going to get a premier edge rusher in the NFC Championship should they get that far. His ability to play at a high level is a little bit less concerning in this matchup than it will be a week from now.”
