As a former IDF soldier and historian of genocide, I wasdeeply disturbed by my recent visit to Israel. He describes anIsraeli people that has come to see peace as unthinkable. That wasnot so before.

He cited his previous publication in November:

We know from history that it is crucial to warn of thepotential for genocide before it occurs, rather than belatedly condemnit after it has taken place. I think we still have thattime.

But then he said,

I no longer believe that. By the time I travelled toIsrael, I had become convinced that at least since the attack by theIDF on Rafah on 6 May 2024, it was no longer possible to deny thatIsrael was engaged in systematic war crimes, crimes against humanityand genocidal actions.
