I learned on P basses. Then life happened, and I didn't play for 20 years. Last few years, I'm back playing. Long story short, I have a handful of Jazz basses, and my #1 is a PJ that is an amazing MIJ Sadowsky. But.... I don't have an old-school P and that just seems wrong.
