Lovely folks of talkbass, I have a short tale for you.

I feel so unbelievably dumb. Last week, I noticed a large increase in what I guess can be described string noise or like a clanking sound.

So over the next day or so after I noticed this, I spent hours resetting up my bass… I even tried a different set of strings that I had laying around. And the clanking and whatever other string noise I was hearing was not going away. I had the string height so ridiculously high and still was hearing...
