Recent Stingray enthusiast here, although I usually gravitate towards passive basses. I recently bought a new Stingray Special 4 banger (now set up BEAD) and love it, but I play it with the eq flat all the time. I have plenty of eq elsewhere in my signal chain that scratches any and all of my tonal tweaking itches. I am wondering if the preamp contributes anything other than a volume boost when it's set flat? If not, then I'd be even happier without the extra weight & complexity of 2...
