Matthew Layton presents Studio 1 – Vision Australia Radio’s weekly look at life in Australia from a low vision and blind point of view.

On this week’s show:

Anzac Day.

This Saturday marks the 105th anniversary of the day that the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed at Gallipoli

But this year, for obvious reasons, Anzac Day commemorations are going to be a little different.

Because of our current battle with our invisible and insidious viral foe, you’ll have to stream your dawn service and there will be no gatherings of comrades-in-arms at the local RSL.

Matthew talks to two former servicemen:

Jeff Chittleborough served in the Royal Australian Navy late in World War 2. He went on to serve with the Citizens Military Forces for thirty years and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Mark Blowers lost the majority of his sight in a training accident while serving as a reservist with the Tenth Light Horse Armour Corps.

Mark is now heavily involved in the Invictus Games Foundation.

And Matthew speaks to this show’s Mental Health and Safety Manager, legally blind registered counsellor Tammey Candeloro, about the joys of parenting in lockdown.
