Hey Yall! Welcome back to Why Wait til Monday! I am your host Nichol Shabazz. We have reached the final episode in the Women’s Reproductive Health Series, but trust me, the conversations around this topic will continue. Women’s Health is near and dear to my heart.
On today’s episode, I brought in a healthcare professional and subject matter expert to wrap up our final episode and to speak on the topic of fibroids, hysterectomy and menopause from a clinical standpoint. Today’s guest is Nicole Gyamfi. She’s a lifelong New Jersey resident and a registered nurse for close to 20 years. She has held various roles in her professional career as a nurse, ranging from direct patient care to leadership in the private and public sector. Currently, Nicole is working in the public sector for the State of New Jersey overseeing COVID-19 operations. Since witnessing firsthand the impact COVID-19 had on the community’s mental health with an increase in people demonstrating symptoms of anxiety and depression and an increase in substance use and abuse, it sparked Nicole’s interest to pursue an advanced nursing degree in Psychiatry with a goal to provide affordable mental health services to economically disadvantaged populations living with chronic health conditions.
This episode is filled with great information and helpful tips, so be prepared to take a mental note of what’s being shared or write actual notes as we will provide questions you can ask your gynecologist at your next medical appointment.
My hopes and prayers are that these Women’s Health Series episodes were helpful and that you gain insight and share the content of these episodes with the women in your life.
