What do values mean? Why should people care? Are they just content for a website or are they a living document in our church family?
Our shared values help us be united and focused in the midst of a diverse community and in a world with an unending list of needs. We cannot do everything, and so we seek to live out who God has called us to be as a particular community as a response to core beliefs about who God is.
When the world and individual opinions and perspectives pull us in every direction, our discerned shared values guide us as we seek to pull together in our shared journey.

Join us Sundays in the Advent season with our series, Sowing Seeds in the Dust. While life can feel like fruitless labouring to plant seeds in the dust, the prophet Isaiah envisions a time when God will burst forth life in a barren desert; where sowing seeds in the dust can move from being a hopeless endeavour to a prayerful act of discipleship.

ABOUT OUR CURRENT SERIES: Uncluttered: Reorienting our lives to Jesus through Simplicity (Lent Season) Jesus went to the cross so that we could have abundant life, yet so often we allow unhealthy attachments to garner our devotion. Things meant for our good become hindrances to the life God wants for us when we have unhealthy relationships with them. Join us this Lent as we contemplate how the spiritual practices of simplicity and fasting help us reorient our affections to the One worthy of our devotion.

ABOUT OUR CURRENT SERIES: Ears to Hear: The Parables of Jesus Jesus’ parables were not so much “earthly stories with heavenly meaning” as they were stories that stir up a response in the hearers and gave a picture of what the ways of heaven look like as they are on earth in the Kingdom of God. They stir subversive Kingdom imagination and wonder in those who have ears to hear. But for those who do not have ears to hear, they are shocking, defamatory and infuriating. Let us have Ears to Hear, cultivating the soil of our lives so that the seeds of Jesus’ words can bloom to life in us.

A Manner Worthy: The Gospel and Community in Philippians Writing from prison, Paul writes to his friends, the Philippian church, to encourage them in what it means to live in Christ. Paul shares with them the Gospel of Christ—that Jesus alone is Lord—and what it means to live as the Community in Christ—unity, partnership, and sharing in suffering.

In this season of Lent, we are focusing on what motivated Jesus in his journey to the cross. As we follow Jesus to the cross, we will explore how he endured because of the joy that was set before Him. In a season that already feels heavy with the pandemic, how can the journey of the cross be a way in which we will not grow weary and lose heart?

Join us Sunday mornings this fall as we explore together the relationship between spiritual formation and emotional well-being, and how God, who is closer than we are to ourselves, longs to give us integrated hearts. This is accompanied by a small group series based on the book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality. If you would like to join a small group for this series, please contact SamLee@springgardenchurch.ca This series will run from October 4th to November 22nd, 2020.

Like a tornado, COVID (and racist violence, etc) rips us away from the security and safety of what was normal and comfortable. The disorientation can be hard, causing fear and motion sickness, making us question God's presence with us, and all we want to do is go back 'home' to what we had before. Where is God in the midst of this, and is the best thing for us to go back, or to be open to something new?
