Today, May 24, 2022, a man walked into an elementary school in Texas with hate in his heart and made sure 19 children will never go home again.
Five days ago in Chicago two people were shot and killed outside a McDonalds.
Nine days ago it was a church in Orange County.
Ten days ago, ten people just trying to buy groceries were killed by a racist piece of shit wearing body armor.
This grotesque list continues, line by line, victim by victim, on and on without end. From May 24th, 2022 all the way back past May 31, 1921, where an estimated 150-300 black men and women died when a racist mob, deputized and armed by city officials, attempted to exterminate people of color in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
And yet, as I sit here watching the body count rise, imagining my own children being taken from me by such violent means, those who have taken an oath to faithfully discharge the duties of their office and defend the Constitution against all enemies, Senators and Congressment of the United States of America, men and women ostensibly devoted to public service; they cower in fear, too spineless and weak-willed to do the bare minimum.
There are no words.
No words can convey the rage, the anger, or the fury that burns for these miserable little souls.
Mere language is not enough to translate the feelings of utter despair I see when I look at this country, at its leaders, and at the faces of the children who needlessly die.
And there is no forgiveness.
Forgiveness is reserved for those who deserve a second chance. Forgiveness is for those who want to change. Forgiveness is for those who still cling to whatever shreds of humanity they have left. Forgiveness is for people, not cowards.
As long as bigots, zealots, racists, homophobes, and assholes can buy guns there will be no forgiveness.
As long as facists, nazis, revolutionaries, and would-be militias can legally arm themselves for war, there will be no forgiveness.
As long as literally any random person with enough cash can walk into a gun show and purchase an instrument of death with no oversight, no registration, no background check, and no paperwork, there will be no forgiveness.
As long as weapons of war are available freely for purchase to anyone with the means to buy them, there will be no forgiveness.
And as long as our children, our youth, our young adults, our friends, our peers, our parents, our nation, our generation, and our futures are murdered in cold blood over and over and over again; for as long as our humanity is stripped from us, for as long as our country lives in terror, there can be no life, no liberty, and no happiness.
And as long as our politicians, our leaders, our courts, and our laws continue to allow these atrocities to continue, there can be no America.
