Several biblical figures, including Moses, David, Paul, and Jesus, asked God for specific outcomes but were denied. Their requests, from entering the Promised Land to healing or avoiding suffering, were refused because God's greater plan or purpose took precedence over their personal desires.
The apostle John sees a dramatic scene around him. He sees he is isolated and alone on a small island called Patmos for his proclamation of the gospel. He sees his limitations in doing the work of the ministry. He sees what he sees but in that moment God asks us do you see what I see? God wanted John to see as God sees so he gave him a revelation and God wants you to see as he sees. When we see as God sees about the world and how he is in complete control in our darkest hour it empowers us to do as God says. Sees as God sees so we will do as God says!
