Mike is arguably New Zealand's best and most recognisable newsreader.
Having started in radio, before moving to tv, Mike has worked in journalism for 40 years, most of that with TV3 and Newshub.
He’s covered World Cups, Commonwealth and Olympic Games, but also gone into countless war zones and natural disasters, all to tell stories and share the personal side of them all.
But as Mike talks about, behind the camera of those moments, there's plenty of trauma. He talks about the toll they've taken, his powerful and challenging journey with te reo, and struggling with identity.
Just a heads up, maybe have some tissues for this one; it does get quite emotional.
