Iris Capital Partners Malaysia was established under Malaysia's Dana Penjana Nasional programme in 2020 with the objective of providing venture debt financing for high-impact technology companies. Through its venture lending programme, the firm aims to empower local startups to scale beyond the Malaysian market, in addition to supporting Asian companies in their efforts to expand into Malaysia.
In a conversation with Dato’ Wan Kamaruzaman, Chairman of the Iris Fund and Kimo Kim, Partner at Iris Fund, the duo speak about the firm’s RM160 million Iris Fund, a privately led venture debt fund, under the Dana Penjana Nasional programme which it co-manages with Hanwha Asset Management Co. They also share insights on how venture debt funds benefit startups and the company’s investment pipeline for 2022.
