Adulthood is complex and involves significant growth and development in a range of areas.

The textbook definition of adulthood is defined by achieving one or more of the following: achieving financial independence, establishing long-term relationships, clearer sense of personal identity and values, taking on greater responsibilities, and/or being a contributing member of society, both through work and volunteerism. It’s also about developing a greater sense of empathy and understanding of others.

But the concept of adulthood is not fixed or universal; rather, it is shaped by culture and society, which can differ across time and place.

It is important to recognize that our own version of adulthood may differ from those around us or from what we have been taught to expect. Ultimately, being an adult means taking ownership of our choices and actions while seeking personal growth and fulfillment in a way that aligns with our unique values and aspirations.
