David expressed his desire for God to know him, every nook and cranny of David's life was open for God to examine. As we look at David's letter, let's be reminded that God desires to know all of us and still loves us.
Sometimes the church tends to talk about us spending time with God like it's going out of style. This is not one of those messages. What if God was really in control of the outcomes of our lives and we began to live as though we trusted Him with that? Looking for some practical ways to make that a regular part of your life? Be sure to have your notes ready, Pastor Todd has some really practical things you can do start trusting God more.
Have you ever known someone who loves to linger? There''s something about people who are intentional to slow down and spend time with you, when you need it most. If you've ever known someone like that, they can be a joy to be around. This Sunday, Pastor Kevin challenges us to reflect on John 15 and Jesus' words about our call to love others well. Take a few minutes and listen in!
There are many things we invest in, but how often do we think strategically about what we pour our hearts into? As we begin 2023, let's take a look a closer look at a few areas and evaluate the impact these things can have on our life.
Each week we'll focus on a different area - Relationship with God, Relationship with Others, Time, and Finances.
This Sunday we continue the season of Advent and a time of anticipation for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Pastor Kevin will be preaching as we light our Joy candle.
Advent is the season of the dawn, where we live in the space between the darkness of a world without Christ and the light of a world with Christ; where we see the light coming, yet it hasn’t fully come.
This week, we look at the dawn of PEACE.
This Sunday we begin the season of Advent and enter a time of anticipation for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Pastor Todd will be preaching as we light our Hope candle.
This week is our last week of this sermon series, and Pastor Kevin will be preaching on God's Sufficient Grace. You may have noticed the theme of God's Grace in this series. Our hope is that you are realizing all of the ways God is continually pursuing and reaching out to us.

This Sunday, Pastor Kevin will be preaching on God's Seeking Grace, and the way He continually pursues and initiates a relationship with us. Homecoming festivities are happening all weekend at MidAmerica Nazarene University, and we are looking forward to having MNU's worship choir lead us in both the first and second gatherings. You will not want to miss hearing them!
Our new sermon series, 'Amazing', begins this Sunday. This series is based on the book, Way, Truth, Life, by David Busic. Join us as we consider the role God's grace has played in each of our lives. Pastor Kevin will share a familiar story from the Bible that paints a picture of God's great love for each of us.
As we wrap up our With Jesus series this week, Pastor Kevin will be talking about slowing down. Our hope is that you have been able to refocus this past month as we have worked to diminish the hurry in our lives. If you are watching online this week, please be sure to have your communion elements ready.
This Sunday we will be looking at the discipline of simplicity and reflecting on how we behave when we want more of what we want more of. We’ll look to Lamentations 3:21-26, Psalm 34:1-8, and Matthew 11:28-30 to see how we can cultivate a taste for the goodness of God and practice simplicity.
This Sunday, we're looking at how we observe Sabbath! From the beginning, God designed rest to satisfy a longing we often ignore, the kind of blessing that satisfies our chronically busy hearts. May we come ready to stop, consider how we prepare, and then delight in the Lord.
"Practice makes perfect" "Everything we do is practice for something greater than we currently are." "We in here talking about practice. I mean listen: we talkin' bout practice."
You've probably heard them all, and at one time or another you've been on the receiving end of some sort of pep talk about "practice." This Sunday isn't one of those, but we believe you will walk away with a desire to up your "practice" game when you think about how this practice shapes you.
How often do you hear someone say, "it's just for a season." In today's world, with 24/7 access to fast food, grocery stores, and the world at our fingertips, it's odd when you find someone living an "unhurried life." The breakneck pace of life doesn't have to be normal. And what if we could slow down enough to notice Jesus with us?
We've come to the end of the book of Colossians! As Paul wraps up his message to the new believers in Colosse, lets pay close attention to the care he takes to assure the church about their future and to remind them to keep trusting God's faithfulness. We can't wait to worship with you this weekend!
What would it take for us to be completely consumed with the message and hope of Christ? How could this transform the community we call church? And what does it require of us?
Are you in need of some new clothes? Paul talks about some great things we can put on that come directly from Him!
Much of the Old Testament is filled with the kinds of things that Jesus spent His time decluttering for His New Testament followers. When He leaves His earthly ministry, He leaves the disciples to carry the message even further and to continue to make clear the Love that God has for His creation and what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Chapter 2 of Colossians is Paul's continued attempts to remind us to stay connected to Christ.
The church wasn't some haphazard wish, Jesus wanted his disciple to be united in Him and through Him. This is clearly Paul's mission in writing to the church in Colosse - that through those bonds, believers would come to the full wisdom of who Christ is and what He has accomplished.
This week, Pastor Kevin is excited to jump into Chapter 2 of Colossians as we continue to hear Paul's heart for the church.
If you've ever received a home cooked meal, a note of encouragement, or had someone show up at just the moment of your greatest need, then you know the power of presence. Sometimes we think we need all the right words, but really it's more about letting God use you right where you're at. As we look at the last verses in chapter 1 of Colossians, Paul is making a clear case for the work of Christ's Spirit through each of us - that people far from God would come to know Him!
Do you ever wonder what God looks like? Colossians 1:15-23 paints a clear connection between the image of God and the person of Christ. If Christ is the visible image of the invisible God, we have to wrestle with this question - is our view of Jesus big enough? The truth for Paul, which he believed was truth enough for every follower of Jesus, is that even though God is so big, he is also near…look no further than Jesus.
Do you believe Jesus is enough? That’s Paul’s message and prayer for the Colossians. It seems simple enough, might even illicit a quick and easy “Amen,” from most listeners. But, Paul is concerned about competing voices within the church and the culture of the day, voices that threaten the idea that Jesus is enough! This question, and others, are important for us to wrestle with today. Prepare your hearts by reading Colossians 1:9-14.
What does a 2,000 year old letter have to say about life, our view of God, and how we live? Well, it turns out, quite a lot! This week, we begin a message series focused on the letter to the Colossians. Join us as Pastor Kevin kicks off this new series.
This Sunday, we celebrate the fulfillment of a wonderful promise from God - a promise full of power for you and for me. The first Christians were radically changed by this, and today, we are too!
The early church was courageous and bold, responding to the Spirit's leading. They established consistent rhythms and routines that made it easier to trust God for his faithfulness at each step. Who and how do you establish trusted voices that give you direction? What's the church's role in sending people on mission? Join us this week, as we continue to look at the blueprint of the early church.
The early church had it's issues, but despite the growing pains they made sacrifices to support the reach of the church and the spread of the message of Jesus. This week, we'll continue to look at Acts 11, to learn what we can from the early followers of Jesus!
Following Jesus is more fun with friends and if you've ever been around someone who is new in a relationship with Jesus, it's incredible how walking with them can encourage your faith! The early disciples watched as Gentiles were coming to know Christ and the church began to grow, not just numerically but a deep spiritual growth.
The early church in Acts was made up of followers who had witnessed, many first hand, the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. After His death, they began to make new routines that would set them up for the kind of impact Jesus invisioned. Over the coming weeks, we're going to take our lead from them!
A call to pray is a reminder for all of us, that when God's people are motivated and inspired to seek His face, we find direction and guidance from a source that goes beyond what we can see or do on our own. After Jesus appeared to His disciples, they were amazed at what earnestly seeking God began to do among them.
In partnership with Nazarene churches across the US & Canada, we're inviting everyone to participate in a month of prayer, beginning May 1.
This weekend we gather to proclaim that the Savior of the World came and lived, died on a cross and rose from the dead, just as He said he would. That single, transformative event has the power to alter the way we live and remake the story of individuals who are far from Christ.
Following Jesus is one of the greatest calls of a disciple! When Jesus invited HIs disciples to follow Him, He told them they would be "fishers of men". They dropped everything and along the way, they saw some pretty incredible things - sick people healed, sight restored to the blind, and they even saw him feed some pretty large crowds! But as time went on, Jesus got to more of the heavy realities that following him included. Do you think we ever forget about those realities when we say yes to following Jesus today?
What are you learning, as you journey through Mark? Are there ever stories from scripture that flash into your mind, as you go throughout your day? How are you allowing the stories to settle into your mind and heart? It's incredible when we sit with a passage of scripture, how circumstances and situations in the day can remind us
Each Sunday, Pastor will focus on a selection from the past week's readings for us together. This is something your whole family, group, or even your neighborhood could participate in. Invite them to participate along with you at collegechurch.com/40days.
Life gets busy! During the 40 days (plus Sunday's) leading up to Easter 2022, we want to invite you to join us as we reflect on the passages in Mark. We've got a devotional available, written by church members from across our congregation.

We're coming to the end of our series and this final week, we're looking at the power of God that transforms. When we allow Jesus to become the ruler of our life, we see the impact of His presence to alter our identify and conform us to His image. We become the reflection of God the Father, in our day to day lives but even more, our ability to live comes from the one who dwells in us.
So much about the life of Jesus was counter-cultural for the times, but have you ever thought about what that means for you and I to emulate those pieces of God's character? This week we're diving into the self sacrificing character of God. If you haven't picked up the Good and Beautiful God book, there's still time to read through the book with us.
When it comes to talking about God, do you ever feel the tension between God's love and His wrath? Some might say it's the balance between grace and truth. This Sunday, we're going to look at how the love of God is connected to his holiness.
Much of what we know of who God is, we learn by experiencing the story of Jesus relayed to us through God's Word and by way of stories of how individuals have come to know God during their life. We have a certain set of "go-to" words when it comes to describing who God is and how we relate to Him. This week, we're looking at one of the most common - God is Love.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to reflect the character of God but oftentimes our picture of Him gets a little blurry. This week, we're going to look at what makes God a generous God. When we get a clearer picture of Jesus, we start to see that God goes out of His way to pursue you and me, in a way that does not demand its own way. How might we better reflect that in our day-to-day lives?
Pastor Kevin is back and our new series starts this week. Come prepared for a great time of worship. The church has a habit of saying that God is good, all the time. But more than our words, do our actions reflect the character of God when we've walked through tough times. Let's take a closer look together this week!
Each season comes with it's own set of challenges, but the constant through life is the presence of a loving God. As we look at Proverbs 3, let's be reminded that He is present with us and willing to guide us.
The prophet Isaiah spoke these words to Israel during a time when they were in captivity. They assumed God wanted nothing to do with them anymore because their hearts had wandered so far from Him. The Israelites thought they didn’t deserve anything from God. Yet God doesn’t condemn His children; instead, He made a way back to Him. A way out of the mess. A way out of the desert.
Yesterday, on December 25th, we celebrated The Word becoming flesh and moving into the neighborhood as a precious baby. Now what? How do we continue to embrace the birth of Jesus today?
Love. It's what brings us together. Each year, Advent serves as a reminder for us to slow down and be present to the reality that Christ came down to earth to bring Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. This weekend, Pastor John will be sharing about how Jesus' is for us, in ways we don't always fully understand. May we be willing to receive that message and carry it into the world in need of His love.
This Sunday is the third week of Advent and we're going to be talking about Joy. There is a marked difference between people who are happy and those who are filled with joy. If you're like the average person, you probably get overwhelmed with the weight of life and it's in those moments we tend to forget that we have access to joy.
Jesus birth was the fulfillment of the age old prophecy that proclaimed he would be the Prince of Peace. If you look around the world today, aside from a relationship with Jesus, you might not even know it! Each year at Christmas we sing about the peace He came to bring, but do we really believe that he meant that peace would also come through you and me?
Christmas is a time filled with wonder, but if we aren't careful the noise around us can crowd out what God intended when He sent His Son. In a world so full of distractions, how do you balance real hope with reality? This Christmas season, join us on Sundays as we celebrate the Joy, Hope, Peace, and Love that Christ brought to Earth.
It's the final week of our series. This week we're looking at John 9 and the story of a man born blind but healed by Jesus. Sometimes it can be hard to see change happening in others, but may we learn to see when God is working in the lives of those around us.
Week 4 of our series takes us to Mark 10 and the story of one of a person who had lots of things going for him, but ultimately wanted to know how he could live forever. In a moment, he realized just how tough of a decision he would have to make. It's not that having things are bad, but sometimes we have to evaluate where we put our trust. Don't miss this week's message in our One Thing series!
Last week, Pastor Kevin helped us see that even though the one thing seemed like two, forgetting what is behind and pressing toward what is ahead means living in the present, following Jesus one step ahead. This week we're in Philippians again looking at another simple statement of faith that we can pick up and put into practice, tomorrow!
This week we'll kick off a new sermon series! We live life at a frenetic pace and fill our days with so many things. During this series, we're going to look at 5 scriptures that will encourage us to take hold of some very simple statements of faith.
What does it really take to trust someone with something? What would it take for you to trust someone with everything? If we are honest, it can be really difficult to trust in something fully - difficulty and misunderstanding can shake some of the firmest foundations. So when God calls us to trust Him completely, are there things that might hold us back or cause us to question His faithfulness? Can we get honest about those for a moment?
Three styles of worship, multiple languages, young to "up in age" - there are so many things about us that are different. And yet, we are united through Christ in mission. College Church will continue to be effective for ministry in Olathe and around the world, as we continue to strive to come together as one. Let's pray together, that we will see the things that unite us, strive to celebrate all that God is doing in the life of our church, and that by God's grace, they will make us more effective at reaching people for Jesus.
Do you believe God wants you to encounter Him? If you believe it for your own life, how much do you believe it for those in your day to day who don't already have a relationship with Jesus? Jesus lived his life looking for people who thought they were far from him - what would it be like if we all committed to being people who went looking for others!
Last week, Pastor Kevin reminded us the importance of being in relationships where people can tell us the truth. Putting yourself out there is difficult and relationships can be a drain, but they can also be a gain! This week, we're going to dig a little deeper into the opportunity we have to give and experience forgiveness. Begin to pray now that God would make our hearts available to be shaped and molded as He would desire.
Relationships aren't always easy, but they are important! Deep friendships are the place where we're able to be our truest self - with our sometimes messy lives. There are countless places that scripture tells us we were designed for relationships. If we will allow them, relationships can help shape us into who God desires us to be.
Can you imagine yourself in the future - 1 year? 5 years? Where you are right now, doesn’t have to be where you are tomorrow if you’re willing to grow. If we are all willing to grow, imagine what the community might say about the people of College Church, over the next 5 years. This weekend we’ll look at Colossians 1 and opportunities for growth!
Many times it takes courage to step out and start something new! The sense of fear and uncertainty can be overwhelming. But when Jesus is the one calling to us, He promises he will be with us. This week, we'll explore the source of our courage to do great things for God. Read ahead in Matthew 14 and we'll see you this weekend!
This week begins a new series! God is doing a new thing at College Church. As we look at patterns, habits, and rhythms within our lives, let's take a new look at how God wants to work in our lives.
God promises hope, but not always instant rescue! As we move toward God, He moves toward us!
"It’s one thing to spend one moment on one person doing one thing to meet their one need. It’s another to walk with them and keep meeting their needs."
What a joy it has been to have Pastor Eddie and Diane Estep during this interim season. Their steady leadership, desire to see good, and constant acknowledgement of God's help in the process has brought us to the precipice of a great occasion. But before they go, Pastor Eddie has one more word for us. Don't miss Pastor Eddie's final message as our Interim Pastor, as we look at the words in Philippians 1, to see the hope God has for everyone who is a new creation in Christ Jesus.
If you've ever felt forgotten or left out, because of your circumstances or situation, may we not forget God's faithfulness through David, to restore us by His amazing grace. This week's story, like every one in the Bible, points us to the life of Jesus, who by His sacrifice restores us. Pastor Eddie is back with us this week, and we'll be looking at the story of Mephiboseth from 2 Samuel 9:1-7;13.
The earliest parts of Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus have been called the clearest summation of the Gospel of Jesus - proclaiming that we were once dead but Christ made us alive. These words are a powerful image to remind us how great the gift is that we have received but even more often, we forget to carry to the world around us. What if we became so aware of the power of God through us to bring life, that our living became consumed with "the good works" that fulfill the destiny God had planned for us in this world?
Would you know His voice if you heard it? And if you heard it, would you know what to do with what you heard? And if you did not know what to do, would you know what to say? Or if you knew what to do, would you be willing to do what He told you to do? Now imagine you were just a kid when you heard the voice, during the middle of the night. That's exactly what happened to Samuel. You may know what he did next, but maybe there's more to the story!
1 Samuel 3:1-10
Have you ever believed you were meant for something very specific? More than that, have you ever been in a moment and realized you were meant for just that moment? The reality is, God ordained each and every one of us for a purpose. Most days, we hardly believe there's much He could do with us but imagine if each of us changed our perspective and realized that God can use every interaction, if we allow Him!
Acts 9:10-19
In Kansas, we know what it means to have seasons. Things look drastically different here in June than they do in December. So, too, do we have seasons in our lives. This Sunday, Pastor Eddie Estep will preach on Ecclesiastes 3, about how there is a time for each season in our life and that God works through each of those seasons, even when we don't see it. Fall brings beauty tinged with coming loss, winter brings loss, spring brings anticipation, and summer sees abundance. Join us Sunday as we hear how God can work in all seasons to make all things good.
The right place at the right time! But what if there's more to it, what if God has something special for you every moment of the day? The story of Esther is a complicated one, tucked briefly and ever-so-quietly in the middle of the Old Testament, but her call is strong! God is still calling people to use their influence at just the right time to help bring about His Will on Earth. When He calls you, will you take note? Don't miss your opportunity to use the influence God has given you. Take a step of obedience.
God has a way of finding those who think they can get away from Him. When He desires to do something through ordinary people, He shows up in extraordinary places. The story of Moses' call resonates with so many: he was running from his past, felt unqualified, and was living in obscurity. But from the moment Moses was born, God had great things for him! God has great things for you, too. Will you answer when He calls?
Jesus was a man who lived and walked the earth. During His life, he spent time with people and their exchanges transformed their lives, but it doesn't just stop there. How could an encounter with Jesus change your life? If you met him along the way, would you allow Him to change your life?

College Church - The Garrett Chapel Awning February 17. 6 am - 9 am | 11 am - 1 pm | 5 pm - 8 pm *COVID safe, 5 min drive thru prayer devotional
As the 60 days up to Good Friday and Easter begins (Lent), we will begin the season of prayer and fasting with a Drive Thru Ash Wednesday devotional. This practice is meant to remind us of our humanity, as people around the world mark this day by the wearing of ashes on their forehead.
This year, one of the pastors from our congregation will place ashes on the forehead of those in your car who wish to participate. You'll also be able to participate in a short prayer and response. You'll also have access to a short, video devotional.
Lost, disoriented, scared, and alone. These are the feelings that rise up within us in the wilderness. Have you ever been there? Deep enough in the places, where you don't think you'll ever find your way out? Sometimes it's our own wandering and sometimes we've chosen to veer off course. The experiences and temptations in the wilderness are not lost on the people of God, and yet through it all, God is faithful. How will you trust God through the wilderness you're walking through?
This Sunday, we'll welcome a special guest to share with us from Joshua 3 & 4. Dr. David Spittal is the President of MidAmerica Nazarene University, and he will be challenging us to think about how we pass along the stories of faithfulness from generation to generation.
Masks aren't exactly everyone's favorite topic right about now, but would you believe it if we said that the Bible actually talked about masks? In one particular story, the mask we're talking about was a by-product of the time Moses spent in the presence of God. Later, in Paul's letter to the church in Corinth, he challenged the people to turn to God and remove the veil, that we might reflect His Spirit more!
Join us as we look to Exodus 34 and 2 Cor. 3:7-18, not just to talk about masks, but to consider what it would look like for us to more reflect the Spirit and presence of God in our lives.
Every journey has a beginning and an end, but in many cases it’s the memories along the way that leave the biggest imprint on our lives. For the people of God, these moments were markers that told a story to generations of the places where God was faithful. They called them altars.
2020 has left us asking a lot of questions, but tonight as we gather like so many people have around the world, we are certain of this...just over 2000 years ago, God sent good news of great joy that would be for all people.
Tonight, we celebrate the birth of our Savior knowing that He came and made himself at home among us. This Christmas Eve, we come with WONDER to discover what it means to trust God with everything. It's not a matter of wonder or...but Wonder IN. So how will you handle the reality of the world around you. Jesus comes to earth as a baby and amidst the circumstances, even his cousin John would forget for a moment that he was from God.
So what if we lived with WONDER in the WASTELAND?
God Flows From Us John 15:1-8; 16-17
Does the Spirit of God, when it is “at home in our lives”, transform the way we live our life? According to John’s gospel, Jesus was clear that our “remaining” in Him allows us to produce the kind of fruit that transforms all of our life. So what kind of fruit is your life producing?
Questions for the Possessed: 1. Does the fruit come from beyond my natural ability? 2. Is the fruit coming from the pain of pruning? 3. Is the Vine (God) Being Glorified? 4. Is the Fruit of Love Evident to All? 5. Does the Fruit of my Investment Feed Others?

You are not alone. Did you know that? One of the most significant discoveries that the followers of Jesus realized after Christ resurrected, was that He was still with them; but this time He would be living in and through them. That same power dwells in you and me today!

The example of Jesus didn't line up with everything the followers of God believed "the messiah" was going to be about. And yet, the newly established church grew in favor with the people who were hearing about the life and death of Jesus. There was something unique about the character of those early followers of Jesus that we could probably learn from. May our stories be shaped by theirs, this week as we look to 1 Peter 5:8-14.
It seems to get more and more difficult each day, to respond to the world around us without starting some sort of argument! If you've ever felt the pressure of responding differently to a situation, but never quite understood why, that's exactly why Peter - the guy who Jesus called "the rock I'm going to build my church on" - wrote his letter to the brand new followers of Jesus. So how can we remain faithful in a hostile, unbelieving world?
What do the people closest to you, say fills your life? What have you let fill your life? Again, Peter has a reminder for those who say that Jesus is Lord - Greater is He who is in you, than the one who is in the world.

With the rule and reign of culture pressing in, how should we act and respond? When non believers look at people who claim to have a relationship with Jesus Christ, what should they see? How are followers of Jesus Christ to use their freedom? Peter's perspective in chapter 2 of his first letter was written for people living in a pretty similar time to what we're experiencing now - he even called it exile, that they were like foreigners.

When the past is so full of despair and anxiety, what does it take to get up and go forward? When the circumstances of the day continue to change, planning for tomorrow can seem futile. Can anything really make a difference for tomorrow?
Hope in today's world is pretty UNCOMMON. But that's just what Peter was pointing the people of God to!
Have you ever thought about giving up? Throwing in the towel? Psalm 146 and 2 Kings 13 serve as a reminder that despite our exhaustion with life's circumstances and frustration with the current realities, that God has great plans for you.
Listen along to this week's message! Full services are available for a time, here: First Gathering - Second Gathering -
If your idea of hosting a party includes inviting people who can't return the favor, then this story is a familiar one. But if you're like most of us, who prefer to spend time with people who look and think just like us, then Luke's story in chapter 14:12-24 might change the way you think about having friends over for dinner.
Join us as we explore Acts 17:27-34 and Paul's call to share the Good News of Jesus with those around us (our Oikos).

Let's take a look at the story from the Gospel of Mark, as the religious leaders gathered around Jesus to challenge Him, and how Jesus pointed those who had gathered to listen to a greater truth about what it meant to love God.

Jesus often used parables, to share Gospel truths with anyone who would listen.
In today's story from the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was confronted by the religious leaders who knew what the Old Testament required of them. Jesus goes a step further, exposing the prejudice of his listeners and awakening His followers to a new reality. Love for God and Love for Neighbor.
As we begin this series, join with us in worship and let's allow God to open our eyes and to work within our hearts to follow Him in greater and greater ways.

Join the disciples in the boat as they face a mounting storm (COVID included, parenting mistakes included, struggles, and failures included). Notice Jesus walking on the water toward you. Hear the words of comfort he offers: "Courage! It is I. Do not be afraid." Then observe as he gets ino the boat with you and the others, and as the wind - and your fears - begin suddenly to decrease.

After three and a half years of following Jesus, the disciples eyes are opened in a moment to see the full picture of the power of His resurrection. In our current circumstances, our eyes are being opened to the new freedom we have because of Christ's victory over death.
