Jamie Hopkins is a recognized financial writer & prolific author, he's also a researcher and teacher to financial advisors across the country.  He has vast experience in many different aspects of the financial industry. The topic he and host Josh Nelson address in this episode is financial planning in a crisis.  Please note this interview was recorded in March of 2020 as the Covid 19 pandemic was starting to become a major national issue.  Now in October of 2020, it is still an issue and the conversation is as relevant today as it was in March. Perhaps, even more so.

Hi, Everyone. Welcome to the Wiser Financial Advisor with Josh Nelson, where we get real, we get honest, and we get clear about the financial world and your money.

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with Carolyn Czaflick, portfolio specialist at Morningstar Investment Management. Carolyn is responsible for communicating the firm’s investment philosophy process and strategies, and she participates in the portfolio management meetings, serving as liaison between the portfolio managers and the firm’s clients.

She brings 25 years of industry experience to our talk about the economy, the markets, all the craziness and volatility that's out there, what it takes to be a solid investor and get through tough times as well as good times. This is about strategy, not market timing, and really getting back to basics as far as what's important when it comes to being an investor. I think you're going to find this highly valuable.

There's a lot more preparation and marketing that goes into selling homes now. It takes the population about three to four months to catch up to where the market is, and so sellers are just starting to understand that we can't live the way we used to where it would be a feeding frenzy. The reality is, we're moving into a market that is more the way it used to be, when homes don't sell in a weekend. It may take a couple of weeks and you're going to have to be more strategic about pricing and your placement in the market."**

In this episode host Josh Nelson addresses the potentials for the financial markets post 2022 midterm elections. We all have our feelings about what might happen if one party takes control of Congress over the other. Or what if the government finds itself ineffective because of partisan gridlock. These are things that concern us all... individuals, small businesses, corporations and even local, state and federal governments. But Josh explains how time gives us reason to think about this from a different, more hopeful, perspective. Thanks for listening. **Today on The Wiser Financial Advisor host Josh Nelson shares some very helpful information regarding credit card debt. Credit card interest rates now in October of 2022 are very, very high: about 18.1% average. That's just the average credit card, which tells you a lot of credit cards are much higher than that. But that doesn't mean you can't get out from under any credit card debt you may have. In fact there is just one thing anyone can start right now to begin eliminating credit card debt. What is it? You might even recognize it from an earlier episode linked below that goes into more depth to help.

Thanks for listening and let us know if you have any questions, comments or topic suggestions you would like Josh Nelson to address in a future podcast.

**We talk a lot about debt on this show and the reason is because so often people get themselves in trouble. Not with sophisticated investment strategies and things like that but with basic, foundational stuff when it comes to financial planning.  Why this is such an important topic is ultimately because it's about being able to have a quality of life that we want as soon as possible. Be mindful of these three debt traps.

Debt trap number one is the trap of consolidation debt.
Debt trap number two is the trap of focusing on the payment.
Debt trap number three is the trap of focusing on the interest rate.

Wouldn't it be great to have NO, or very little debt? Is that even possible these days? The short answer is YES! In this episode Josh walks you through not just the how, but also the why, to avoid these 3 debt traps.Contact:
