What if the smartest model for modern leadership is already inside our heads?

This week I’m joined by Edwin Clamp, a thinker at the intersection of neuroscience, leadership, and organizational design. His work reimagines how companies function by looking at how the brain actually works—not how we wish workplaces behaved.

Together we explore how brain-inspired design can reshape leadership, culture, and decision-making.

Together we unpack:

  • What “biomimicry of the mind” really means for organizations
  • How prediction → error → adjustment drives both brains and great teams
  • The brain’s “many little experts” and what that teaches us about autonomy

Listen in to Edwin Clamp as he explores Biomimicry.

In this powerful episode, Yvette Bethel and Edwin Clamp explore one of the most urgent challenges facing organizations, institutions, and societies today: How do we shift from degenerative systems—those that deplete trust, extract value, and reinforce corruption—toward generative ecosystems that create value, restore integrity, and serve the whole?

Join us as we unpack:

  • What makes a system degenerative or corrupt (and how to recognize the signals)
  • The hidden costs of institutional decay, distrust, and misaligned incentives
  • The principles of generative systems — those built on trust, reciprocity, transparency, and sustainability

Whether you're a leader, change agent, team member, or simply someone trying to work with integrity in a system that feels out of sync, this episode offers a clear-eyed perspective on what's possible—and where to start.

At work, feedback is necessary. It shows up in performance coaching sessions when a person is not sure how to do something or when a person is not inclined to do their research. The intention behind offering feedback is to influence change or modify behavior.

However, when it is offered in the form of criticism, even when it is skillfully presented using a non-judgmental tone, people on the receiving end can still feel attacked, disappointed in themselves, or embarrassed. This can lead to reactions such as withdrawal, defensiveness, or even anger. When criticism is extreme, it can be perceived as condescending or even bullying. When this happens, organizations can lose good people, or impair productivity.

Listen in as Yvette Bethel explores how you can restructure feedback to create lasting connections.

I constantly hear employees lament about how hard they work and how their hard work is not noticed. This is because people around them are working just as hard so it has become a basic expectation, not a distinguishing characteristic. Paradigms contain a set of assumptions, beliefs and theories that make up a world view. Fun, innovation, fear, control, and some traditions are paradigms that you encounter, sometimes they coexist with each other. According to Staci Friedel, “Paradigm blindness (is a state that) keeps us from creating something new because we firmly believe the way we see it, is the way it is and the way it will always will be. Paradigm Blindness shuts down innovative problem solving and creativity.”

Join Evolve host Yvette Bethel as she shares with you how paradigm blindness can affect you and what you can do about it.
