Rock Bible Chapel is a Village Missions church in Rock, MI. It is our goal to better know, trust, love and communicate Christ as individuals and as a community of believers.

The lens through which we believe God sees us affects how we read God's Word. Hebrews 12 shows us that, as we believe the author's claim that God sees us through the eyes of grace, He will make us into people who are enduring, loving, and unshakeable.
For this Christmas Eve service, we remember the other name given to God as He was born into the world: Jesus, the God Who Saves.

Hebrews 11 is more than a picture of other people's lives of faith. It paints a picture of what our lives could look like when lived in faith. They could be lives full of anticipation, commendation, separation, solidity, connection and unique to each of us. Let's begin that life of faith today!
Hebrews tells us much that we have in Christ, and all that we have gives us a responsibility to trust, rest in, be confident in, and grow in it. In our discussion of Hebrews 10:19-39 we see the difference between the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Great White Throne Judgment, and what it means for believers.
Jesus' goal is a relationship with us, and from His perspective, the obstacle is not what we think it is. It is our sin, yes. But deeper than that is our choice from Adam on, to relate to God through the knowledge of good and evil. We don't think of this as an obstacle, but it is, and only Jesus can break down this wall.
Do we judge something as better for being newer, or older? Christians were asking this as they compared grace to Law. In Hebrews 8, the author definitively proves that, no matter how you slice it, Jesus' way--relating to God through grace--is better than the Law.
We too easily skim Jesus' connection to Melchizedek. The more we understand it, however, the more we see Jesus as a better priest over a better kind of relationship, and find hope in our connection to someoen as great as Him.

We live in a broken world, and naturally want to avoid suffering as much as possible. But what if God can use suffering as His greatest tool to show Himself to us?

Though our worship and service has value, every church can get sidetracked when thinking of its ministry (as evidenced by the New Testament letters!). In order to communicate with God, we need a mediator--a priest--who is taken from the people and appointed by God. Israel had depended on the family of Moses' brother Aaron. But in Jesus we see one who is qualified to serve as priest, only far better than the Aaronic priests ever could!
This week, we explore Hebrews' second warning, this time against the danger of unbelief. We see the distinction between those who trust in Jesus for life and fall away, and those who grow to trust Him in their everyday--who get to enter into Jesus' REST.
Hebrews contains 5 warning passages. The first (Heb 2:1-4) warns against neglecting "so great a salvation." To understand what's at stake, we see the story around the warning, which speaks of the glory which will one day be given to the Son and a particular group called His "companions" or "sharers."
Before diving in, we see the purpose of Hebrews. An unknown author reminds believers not to turn away from the source of their eternal life, and he begins by describing the One we trust through the Seven Perfections of the Son.
As Moses prepared Israel to enter the Promised Land without him, he told them something we would do well to remember. We're responsible, not only for our own obedience to God, but to pass on what we know to the next generation.
Not only did Moses give commands, he gave stakes. God cares about and responds to obedience, disobedience, and repentance, for Israel and for us. In light of that, what place should obedience have in the life of a Christian?
Like layered transparencies with bits of detail written in, our understanding of the Bible is affected when we layer what we already know of God and the Bible. Deuteronomy is one of the more important books for this purpose: the more clearly we understand it, the more the rest of the Bible makes sense.
In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds Israel how their initial intention to obey was not enough to persevere. Today, we'll walk through Moses' three motivations and methods to encourage their--and our--obedience to God.
Deuteronomy is a book of the last words of Moses, one of Israel's greatest leaders, to a nation about to step onto the world stage. This message, we see how God's past actions should spur them to trust and obey Him.
Without Balaam, the reader of Numbers may picture God as frustrated with Israel. Balaam shows God's enduring faithful love for Israel, and the Bronze Snake shows how God saves people from judgment, through judgment--a perfect picture of Christ.
Israel's years wandering in the wilderness wasn't just judgment. God was active training His people to trust and depend on His leadership, which sometimes involved hard lessons. We'll seek to learn from and apply these lessons to us as a church.
Kadesh Barnea is the pivotal moment for Israel, when they stood at the edge of the Promised Land … and refused to trust God, leading to an unavoidable judgment. Believers can face their "Kadesh Barnea" moments as well: we'll see how to recognize them and what to do when they come.
The trip from Mount Sinai to Kadesh-Barnea, at the border of the Promised Land, takes 11 days. Before they arrived Israel faced four crises which were symptoms of a deeper problem: mistrust in God.
As Israel sets out to leave, we address what's coming in Numbers, the beginning of the story of an ever-loving, never-failing God in relationship with a never-loving, ever-failing people.
We all enjoy holidays for its food, decorations and break from work. God gave Israel "holy days" as well. What were their purposes, and how can we use our own holidays to grow in our knowledge and trust of God?
We speak and sing of Christ covering over, or atoning for our sins, but where does that phrase come from? We'll review the Day of Atonement and how Jesus' death is both like and better than the Old Testament atonement.
