How do I go about choosing a secondary that would be a good time investment for when you just want to switch it up? They now have “personalities” of which I believe there’s over 16 different kinds..?Which range from super aggressive to campy to flashy and everything in between. There’s also a new ability to toggle amiibo learning on and off so if they play a certain way you can lock it in and they won’t change styles unless you unlock them.Also new that wasn’t in smash 4- they will edgeguard you hard and use their dash attack.Generally the amiibo like to copy you at first then gradually adopt a play style that can beat yours. It’s all pretty fascinating.
Our Week with Smash 5 ways to read your opponent How do they get up after being knocked down on the stage? Do they roll forward or back? What’s the best way for you to punish their habit? Grab combo, smash attack, etc. How do they recover while on the ledge? Watch for rolls and normal get ups and learn the best position to be in to punish recovery. If your open uses attack recovery often you need to shield and punish. If your opponent uses jump to recover you may be able to punish with nair, fair or up air. How do they recover off stage? Do they double jump early and recover high? Punish with a spike or any aerial followed by projectiles to gimp them. After punishing a high recovery you can usually bait out a air doge or up B, if they recover high again, which are both highly punishable due to landing lag. Be careful to avoid the up B attack by jumping toward your opponent then double jumping away. If they recover low you can knock them into the stage by dropping of the stage and landing a back air, or punish with projectiles If you get the timing right you can land a F smash right as they grab the stage if they are recovering low you may need to angle it down. Watch for patterns in your opponents attacks and exploit them The more you play the game and play as other characters you can learn how they approach and how to counter it. You may find that some people rely too heavily on one move and have nothing to fall back on if they can’t use that move. Almost every character will have landing lag when they use their up B attack that means you have to punish this. If they are looking for the grab spot d

"I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to audition through Cup of Tea Productions, and at the time I had no idea what the audition was for. For the first round, I submitted my singing demo. The second round involved singing a requested song (not “Lifelight”). I ended up being cast, and CRIED when I found out what the project was. As a life-long fan of Nintendo, being a part of Smash Bros. Ultimate is really special to me. I love “Lifelight” so much."

Is there a particular age where you had trouble keeping up? Question coming from a New dad here :). Hey, gang, I’ve been wondering something. The stage morph option looks super fun and I’m looking forward to using it when I’m playing with my brothers and whatnot but I couldn’t really wrap my mind around this one part lol. If you select two random stages for stage morph, does that mean you’ll bounce between Smashville and Luigi’s Mansion is those are your two selected stages? Or does that mean you’ll be on a random stage every single time? Absolutely dispel. Because the assumption is almost that Nintendo didn't know what it had with Smash Bros. And that actually suggests that Mr. Sakurai didn't know what he was doing. The happy accident was that people started to discover it, and that became something that people could then relate to one another through and that they can have fun playing with each other. And that created the bond that gave them the inspiration for the community to build that tournament scene. But I do want to dispel the notion that the game wasn't designed with that in mind because it very much was. Smash Character: Link - From Prima Guides Link has above-average weight and decent range on all of his attacks, thanks to his sword. He also has a variety of projectiles he can use to attack characters from afar. This means he can easily switch between playing a ranged game or an up-close game. Along with his sword, he also carries his Hylian Shield, which blocks projectiles as long as you are not attacking. Link reacts when blocking a projectile, but this only works when projectiles make contact with his shield, so he can still be hit with projectiles from behind. Bringing the community together As of 2017, in terms of viewership and entrants, Melee and Smash 4 tournaments have been comparable. According to Newzoo, Melee and Smash 4 ranked 11th and 12th respectively in terms of viewership, with a combined 16.8 million hours viewed on the Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch. [Note: The Washington Post is owned by Jeffrey P. Bezos, CEO of Amazon.] If those audiences were in fact combined, the Smash scene would rank 9th, well above Capcom’s Street Fighter V, and below Psyonix’s car-soccer game, Rocket League. It would also make Smash the world’s top fighting game in terms of viewership.

He has slightly above-average weight and average mobility. His Standard Attack, Side Tilt, and Neutral Air all fire his blaster to harass opponents. The blaster shots don’t travel very far, but every bit of DAMAGE helps! Also, note his Side Smash is actually a projectile. The longer you charge it up, the larger the projectile becomes, the farther it travels, and the more DAMAGE it deals. With Metal Blade, you have two opportunities to throw it. First, you can throw it immediately in any of eight directions: up, down, forward, backward, and all four diagonals. If you throw it at the ground or a wall, you can pick it up. Once picked up, it functions as an item and can only be thrown forward, backward, up, or down. Crash Bomber travels very far and deals decent DAMAGE to opponents caught in its blast. Use this from a distance and fire it into groups of opponents. Because opponents can pass it off on one another, use this to predict their movements. The explosion can hurt Mega Man and can transfer to Mega Man as well, so use this from a distance! Leaf Shield doesn’t stay up for very long, but while it does, it can block projectiles. Grabbing an opponent while you have the Leaf Shield allows you to combo, including the DAMAGE of the leaves. You can still use your dodges and shield while you have the Leaf Shield up. Weekly Tournaments Source Gaming Productions https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2503060344/14/17 Character Spotlight: Zero Suit Samus Without her bulky armor Zero Suit Samus is faster, lighter and more mobile. She has decent recovery and her plasma whip has the ability to grab the edge. With little in the range department, you have to get in close and rely on your speed to get back out. Her Paralyzer weapon has the ability to stun. Her Down Smash is an essential part of her set of moves. Utilize her Paralyzer Special, charging it up extends its range but shoots a slower projectile. Opponents hit by the slower projectile will be stunned for a longer period of time. Hit with the end of her Plasma Whip for the most knockback. Use as a keep out tool to control the pace of a match and slow your opponents’ approaches. Also, use it for recovery! Set up traps with your stun options while keeping opponents away with Plasma Whip and your grapple. After a successful grapple, Down Throw into Forward or Up Air to deal some nice damage at low percentages at higher percentages it can KO. Her Up Tilt has some invincibility at the tips of her feet, this can help with airborne opponents. Her Down Tilt pops opponents into the air diagonally, follow it with a Dash Attack. Back Air your best bet for airborne KO’s, though her Up Air is also effective. Down Air on airborne opponents can meteor smash as well, but you better have an extra stock because it will cost you. From the ground, your best bets for KOs are Side Smash, Up Smash, and Flip Jump into a kick. When guarding the edge, use Paralyzer, Plasma Whip, and Flip Jump. From NintendoLife article Knockback seems to be a hot topic Thinkamana moderator for the Smashboards forum had this to say, “The oversight is that rage should never have applied to base knockback, as that messes up the consistency of low-% combos; this means that with some characters, the person losing might have fewer viable options,” Dabuz, a long time top ten Smash 4 player had this to say, “It's a great mechanic because it prevents fishing for KOs at specific damage percentages, but it scales largely with the base knockback of a move (that means the amount of knockback a move delivers at zero percent, basically.) This makes multi-hitting moves such as Zero-Suit Samus’ 'up-B' attack extremely powerful because high base knockback ensures one hit leads into all of its 'hits', which causes the opponent to pop out and die at very low percentages, largely due to rage.” Thinkaman’s solution is, “Applying rage to only knockback growth (like all other damage/knockback modifiers in the game) is the number one thing that I'd like to see fixed in Smash for Switch,”
Larry Lurranother top player would like to see the return of DACUS. A technique where you cancel your dash attack and do a sliding up smash. Fine tuning stick controls and upping the speed of rolling onto the stage were mentioned also. Nario, another professional Smash 4 player had this to say about the stages and stage hazards.“I hope we can further develop on that with something like a 'turn off hazards' option for most stages, similar to what PlayStation All-Stars had,” also this, “Sometimes in competitive play, to have the most fair result, we need to play on extremely conservative stages, (but) that can get stale quickly. This would liven up the stage list by a lot.” Dabuzwould like to see the training mode fleshed more.“There's a lot of stuff missing from the current training mode (frame by frame speed, recording inputs, testing rage, etc.) so I would love to see a more fleshed out training mode. Right now, there's a lot of things that cannot be tested out there.” Multiplayer wasn’t the only area that Nario would like to see more of story mode like brawl had “I'd love to see a kind of story mode or adventure mode, similar to Brawl's Subspace Emissary,”and “I love seeing characters in a crossover series interact with one another, like Meta Knight, Marth and Ike.” Who do the pros want to see in Smash on Swtich? Zero: I really want Cloud to stay for the next Smash title. I also want Sora to join the roster and for Snake to return. That's my wishlist. Development During E3 2011, Smash was announced for the WiiU and the 3DS. Development for the game didn’t start until October of that year. At E3 2012 there was no mention of the game which confused and disappointed some fans because of it being announced a year earlier. Shortly after E3 during a Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Bandai Namco was along with Sora, Sakurai’s company would be developing the game. At E3 2013, Sakurai began posting photos of the game regularly on the miiverse. At first they seemed to be random screenshots with no info, but eventually, that changed and he began including more info. December 5th, 2014, was the last post and you can see all the archived Miiverse posts here. July 2nd, 2012 Sakurai posted a whiteboard drawing to Twitter showing off a number of characters that would all end up in the game. The picture has been removed from Twitter but can be seen here. Zero Suit Samus, Wario, Sandbag, Pit, Pikmin, Pikachu, Mr. Saturn, Mr. Game and Watch, Meta Knight, Marth, Mario, Luigi, Link, Kirby, Fox and Donkey Kong. Initially, Sakurai said there would be a single player story mode, but it was later dropped. Gameplay Changes One of the biggest changes was the speed of the game. Melee is extremely fast-paced and frantic, Brawl was much slower, Smash 4 was faster than Brawl but still slower than Melee. Melee is an extremely combo heavy game and high-level players could easily punish players that left themselves open to it. Smash 4 allows for combos but not to the extent that Melee does. Getting yourself out of combos is much easier in Smash 4, but not as easy as it was in Brawl. Bridging the gap between casual and hardcore is what Smash 4 set out to do, but that does end up making the competitive matches less interesting to watch than Melee. The much improved online did a much better job catering to players. The casual could play with friends and the hardcore could play For Glory matches. Lag can still be an issue but it's much better than Brawl. Competitive scene Melee’s high-level competitive play is unmatched when watching pros play and the skill gap sets players apart. Most Melee players have stuck with Melee because Smash 4 is still more like Brawl and less like Melee. In spite of that Smash 4 has still made its way into the tournament scene. Reception Smash 4 on 3DS is sitting at an 85/100 on Metacritic. The small screen and lack of single player hurt the score some. Some circle pads were also damaged from gamers pushing on it too hard on them. Smash 4 on 3DS is the 8th best selling game on the console at over 9 million units sold. The WiiU version is a little higher at 92/100 it’s the second highest rated Smash game, Brawl being number one. Smash 4 on the WiiU is the 4th best selling title with almost 5.5 million units sold. My History with Smash 4 I picked up both games at launch, but the WiiU version didn’t get much play time. I was lucky enough to get the GameCube controller adapter at launch without a preorder but never picked up the Smash Controllers. My boys were really into to shooters when Smash launched so we didn’t play much together. The younger one did have the game on 3DS so we played that periodically. Fast forward to 2018 and I can’t put the game down. This

In 2005 at a pre E3 press conference President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata announced that the next Smash game was already in development for the Wii. Masahiro Sakurai had HAL back in 2003 and was surprised to learn of its development, because Iwata had told him he would be in charge of the next instalment following Melee. Iwata invited Sakurai to his hotel room in LA and ask him to direct Brawl. According to Did You KNow Gaming Iwata told Sakurai if he didn’t join the team they would just re-release Melee with online play. Sakurai was on board and Nintendo hired an outside studio who according to Sakurai had played excessive amounts of Melee. Brawl’s official trailer was at E2 May 10, 2006. Sakurai told IGN that motion controls would not be included in the game. What it would include was Wi-Fi connection and online functionality. Nintendo wanted Brawl to be the game to take the Wii online. Sakurai and Hideo Kojima were testing online play and Kojima said Nintendo “could put it out right now and it would sell millions of copies.” Sadly that was not the case and the game would miss it’s original release date on December 3, 2007 in order to fine tune the game. The single player adventure mode, The Subspace Emissary was a step above Melee, but because Sakurai wanted to make the game more accessible to everyone, so the hardcore didn’t stick around and went back to Melee for high level play.
Competitive scene
The competitive scene didn't last long last because of how unbalanced the game was. Meta Knight was the only viable option for most players so that made the game pretty boring to watch. Tripping was also added to slow players down, so you would just randomly fall a be left wide open to take damage. The slower speed and lack of moves from Melee like wavedashing, L-canceling and decent air dodge played a part in killing it in the competitive scene. One of the biggest blows to playing the game competitively was the ability to act durring hitstun making combos more difficult.
Project M Project M was a mod that was created to make Falco play like he did Melee that evolved into the game that Brawl should have been. Project M was received many updates and even added Melee characters to the roster of Brawl. When Smash 4 was announced After six years it was shut down the team that had been working disbanded to avoid legal complications. There’s still local scenes having tournaments with Project M, but for the most part is has died the main competitive scene.

My History with Smash Brawl Brawl is one of those games that holds a special place in my heart. When it released my boys were 7 and 5 years old and we spent many Saturday mornings trying to unlock characters and play through The Subspace Emissary. The casual play was perfect for playing with boys at that time. They loved to team up on me and we had many epic matches. My younger son loved playing as Wolf, the older would go for Ike and I loved Ganondorf. Smash Practice Last time we worked on defensive moves, now let's incorporate that into our movement.
Smash Bros Cast Episode 3 Smash Bros Melee History Developer: HAL Laboratories Release Date: Japan November 21, 2001. North America December 3rd, 2001 shortly after the GameCube launched. Europe and Australia were the following year on May 24th, 2002 and 31st, 2002. Development Masahiro Sakurai was back in the driver seat for the sequel to Smash 64 and it would push him to a point that he referred to as destructive. It was the biggest project that he had ever led and because of that he took zero holiday’s off and had little to no weekends. He referred to Melee as “the sharpest game” in the series. With this game releasing so close to the launch of the GameCube the team really wanted to show the power of the system, so they worked with three different animation studios to complete the opening sequence. Reception Melee was the top-selling GameCube game at 7.09 million, it became the fastest selling GameCube title in Japan selling almost 360,000 copies in four days. Most critics and news outlets praised the game. Melee sits at 92/100 on Metacritic IGN 9.6/10 Eurogamer 10/10 Nintendo Power 5/5 Edge Magazine 6/10
Competitive Melee The term I hear most often with Melee and the competitive scene is “happy accident.” Here’s this casual party game being played at a level I never thought was possible. The community discovered techniques like wavedashing, dashdancing, directional influence and L-canceling. Soon after small tournaments were being held in homes or game shops. Matt Deezie began hosting the Tournament Go series in Northern California and came up with a ruleset of legal stages and tournament procedures. More tournaments began to spring up and the community was growing. In 2004 Melee was added to MLG’s largest tournaments. This Last weekend I watched the entire documentary on the Melee competitive scene. It’s over four hours long, but it was amazing to see the history of the scene and how it all started. Click here to watch the Melee Documentary My History with Smash Melee Christmas morning 2001 my wife surprised me with a Gamecube and had all of our family members and friends buy me games and controllers. We very little money at that time, so I was very surprised. Smash was one of the three games I got that year and the moment I fired it up I was blown away by what I was seeing. I was still playing Perfect Dark and Mario Kart 64 at that time, so it was a massive improvement. The opening cinematic was magic. I unlocked all the characters and I love checking out the trophies, especially the proximity mine from Perfect Dark. Sadly Microsoft crushed those dreams. Unfortunately, I didn’t have many friends to play Melee with so after I unlocked all the characters it didn’t get nearly as much play time as I would have liked. In 2002 EGM posted that Sonic could be unlocked in Melee and I spent forever trying to KO 20 wireframes on the cruel difficulty when I finally did there was no Sonic. As I am playing with Mario I am seeing his weakness is reach. I have to be able to get in close. Pulling off a Spot Dodge followed by a simple combo feels like progress for me. Smas
Ep.2 Is all about the history of Smash 64! History of Smash 64 Developed by HAL Laboratory under the direction of Masahiro Sakurai Originally only planned to be released Japan under the name Nintendo All-Star Great Fray Smash Brothers Release date January 21st, 1999 in Japan, April 26th, 1999 for the US, and EU was November 19, 1999 Sakurai began development for a fighting game called Dragon King The Fighting Game. After showing Satoru Iwata he was on board. Knowing that fighting games didn’t sell well Sakurai used Nintendo characters without permission, Mario, Samus, Donkey Kong and Fox. before presenting the game to Nintendo higher-ups he made sure to present a balanced game and it was approved. Marketing this game was like nothing we had seen before the first commercial featured a live-action Pikachu, Yoshi, Mario, and Donkey skipping through a field that quickly turns into an all-out mascot brawl. Sprinkled throughout the commercial was gameplay showcasing the characters fighting and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The final game had 12 playable characters, 4 needed to be unlocked. Smash had a single player adventure that would put you against the other combatants. Training, Break the Targets and Board the Platforms were mini-games that you could play single player. Multiplayer is where this game shined 4 players going to head to head lead to hours and hours fun. Smash 64 sold 5 million copies worldwide. US 2.93 million copies 1.97 million copies in Japan. It was the 64’s 5th best selling game and received an above average score from most critics and news outlets. Beating your friends down with Nintendo characters in multiplayer combined with simple controls were the main factors in the decent scores. Nintendo Power 7.7 out of 10 IGN 8.5 out of 10 (IGN gave it Best Fighting Game) GameSpot 7.5 Metacritic 79 of 100
