I've been quiet for several months. But only because my former employer threatened to fire me if I didn't quit podcasting, unless they approved of the podcast and contents. I hesitated to resume the podcast because of reasons. But, I had to do a podcast as a homework assignment for a class at WSU Global, and I decided to just make it a JKH episode, and see where it takes us. By us, I mean you and me, my friend.
You're living life, you're working as a news reporter-- sometimes life and reporting collide. One of the rules of reporting, is that you should never become a part of the story. But it happens. I share some of my experiences, and how falling back on my reporting skills helped me cope through one of the most frightening hours of my life as a parent.

I had a chance to sit down with former Pasco Mayor Matt Watkins after the November 2019 election, just a few weeks before he headed off on a journey he had been planning for a couple of years. We talked a lot about his time as mayor and the things he was proud of, and he shared his plans to travel the world and absorb other cultures in an effort to become a better international citizen.
Matt first heard of the COVID-19 virus shortly after landing in Singapore, and it would eventually become a virtual companion with him on his journey, and ultimately force him to push pause on the travel adventure of a lifetime.
