A weekly podcast designed to help my fellow streamers achieve success and grow through tips, tricks, and guest interviews! Hosted by Podzilla, a Fortnite/battle royale/FPS streamer on Twitch.
I've been told, both directly and indirectly, that I am a failed Twitch streamer because I decided to switch platforms by Twitch Partners. This simply is not true. I found the platform that is best for me and moved there, as any individual would (and should) do.
This new Trovo 500 system is more accessible for everyone on a small platform like Trovo than the other system! What all is going into it? Let's find out.
It's not easy to make the move from one platform to another. In this week's episode I talk a little about how I was able to make the switch from Twitch to Trovo as smooth as possible, hopefully this will help anyone who's looking to making a change!
Trovo is officially launching the new Space Level system next month, so let's talk about it!
Mental health breaks are essential for content creators if they're feeling overwhelmed. Just don't use them to make n announcement about your streaming future...

Shout out to MoorphGames for inspiring this episode with a TikTok he did! What value are you providing with your streams? It's probably not something some of us streamers have had to think about, but if we want to grow it's a question we need to answer. If we are not providing value with our streams, in any way, then why should people come watch us???

Who you associate with defines your community. You yourself can be the most straight-edge, non-drama person but the people you have in your community can bring you into drama through guilt of association. If you're not careful your image can be tarnished simply because of them.
This is still the perfect time to try something new if you're a streamer. It's still summer, views are still a little lower across the platforms because people are outside enjoying the weather or are able to be working again after the pandemic shutdowns. Why not try that one new thing you were thinking of? This time period is perfect for experimenting with a new style or genre or even a new platform, you never know what might come of it!
Another viewer request episode! This one is a more serious episode, as we dive into the topic of mental health both as it pertains to streaming and a focus specifically on men's mental health at the end. I asked the guys in the community to come through for this episode, and they delivered. . . https://trovo.live/podzilla_ to watch these episodes LIVE + calming ASMR and simulator games!
Streaming is all about what sets YOU apart. You can be an absolute sweat at the game, but if you don't do anything differently from others who stream your game you won't get seen (barring any big event happening). You've gotta find what separates you from the pack and make it part of your stream.
This week we dig into the boxes on Trovo, which I believe are the ultimate game-changers in terms of discoverability and interaction. I talk about how I use them for my streams and give my feelings on this concept that I'm slowly coming around to.
Branding is hugely important to streaming, just as it's important to many other businesses. Let's talk about why that is, and how I finally figured out my own branding after a couple mistakes.
Special thanks to AngryCorgiProductions for asking me to make this video! He wanted me to talk about how to maximize engagement and grow on Trovo and talk about the different growth features they offer on the platform (boxes, spells, etc.), so I did!
AngryCorgiProductions: twitch.tv/angrycorgiproductions and trovo.live/angrycorgiproductions
Don't forget to follow me on Trovo to see these recorded LIVE on Tuesdays, as well as my other content! trovo.live/podzilla_
I had been splitting time between Twitch and Trovo for about a month and a half, and decided to give Trovo my full focus for the month of June. I lasted about half the month before deciding to make what could be the best decision of my streaming career!
Follow4Follow. Support4Support. Supporting too many people. These are some of the mistakes I've made over my 2+ years of streaming. Mistakes that I want each of YOU to avoid!
These next few weeks I am going to be doing a series on my tips for new streamers and those who feel stuck in the low viewer (3-5) range. This week we talk about getting started and what you need to know and have before and when you start.
The stream disconnected right at the end so I ended the episode (I was almost done anyway), hence the abrupt cutoff.
This week is a special episode: it was recorded during my two year streaming anniversary so I wanted to talk about everything that I've learned so far as a streamer! Also, I will be doing my last Twitch stream for a month today (May 31st) because I want to dedicate a month to Trovo and see what the growth is like for me. Be sure to follow there at trovo.live/podzilla_
(Note: These are all my recommendations, not a rulebook. Some Discords allow things that I say you shouldn't do, and vice-versa.)
I believe Discord is a big tool for streamers, however some may not know how to use it or the proper etiquette (if there really is any) of it. This week I take a dive into it and give you some recommendations!
twitch.tv/podzilla_ for LIVE recordings + Fortnite and Bloodhunt streams
Through my two years of streaming I've picked up some things about networking, what has and hasn't worked for me and what I've seen work for others. It's time I tell you about these things I've picked up that have helped me find success, and I hope you can figure out how to make them work best for you!
NOTE: I HIGHLY recommend you watch this episode on either Spotify or YouTube versus only listening to it. I show different things on both the Twitch and Trovo sites so just listening won't give you the same information.
This week we dive more into why I love Trovo and why I think it could be a top platform in a few years. There are some rough spots, but it's similarities with Twitch (and much better discoverability) make it a good destination to move to or test out.
Check out my channel on Trovo! https://trovo.live/podzilla_
Having now streamed on all four big platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, and Trovo), I decided it would be best if I gave my thoughts on each of them in case someone is looking to try another platform. We get my takes as well as chat's takes, and MikeWhob and I just can't seem to stop singing Trovo's praises...
We don't always think about the effect our words have on other people, especially innocent people who hear what we say. This episode is all about the Twitter drama regarding Twitch streamers, and how words affect not only people involved in the drama but also people who may end up getting dragged into something they wanted no part of.
This week we wrap up our GoMiCo series with our third key: Confidence! We discuss how some streamers are naturally confident, how some need that little extra boost from achieving their goals, and how the other two keys tie in with this one to create my philosophy.
Last week we covered the first of my three keys to success, Goals. This week let's take a look at the second key, Mindset. Mindset will cause everything to snowball, the issue is it can snowball in a positive AND a negative way. All depends on how you think.
Taking a page from my own (published) book, we're working our way through my GoMiCo philosophy these next few weeks! This week we're looking at goals and how to set them to be as achievable as possible.
Before we talked about negativity on the show in terms of viewers bringing it into chat, now let's talk about it in a couple different ways. How do you handle seeing your favorite streamers being negative live and on social media, and how do you think being negative live and on socials affects your viewers?
.
Twitter: @_podzilla_ to join in on the conversations and end up being part of the episode!
In my opinion, yes Partner is available to us all. No, not everyone will have the determination to make it however. Don't let others dissuade you from pursuing what you want to achieve!
How often do you see people on social media offering you "advice", or people reaching out to you during your stream to say something about your stream? It can get frustrating at times, especially when it's unwanted advice. How do you handle it??
It's the age-old question for streamers: do you stream the popular games that everyone else streams because you're hoping some of those hundreds of thousands of viewers will find your stream, or do you stream what you want and build a community around the different people who come to watch you play different games? I asked this on Twitter, and it got some good feedback that I had to share with you guys (plus my own views).
Raiding out after every stream and hosting streamers you watch are two huge networking and supporting tools. In this episode I talk about the benefits of using these tools and why you need to always raid after stream.
It's something you see from time to time on Twitch: "I'm lurking while streaming", or some variation of that message. This week let's talk about the issue with that message, and why less words are more in this instance.
I've heard streamers talk about "hollow follows" before, which they use to describe people who follow them but don't come in and support even if the streamer supports them. In this episode I explain why I feel this line of thought is selfish and could cause the streamer to have stunted growth in the long run.
Too often I see streamers focusing on their follower count long after it should matter. They put "x/y00 Followers!" in their stream title, yet when they reach that goal their viewer count remains the same. Why do we focus on this number so much???
Visit twitch.tv/podzilla_ to watch these recorded LIVE as well as my regular shenanigans on stream with The Pod Squad.
It's so easy for us to lash out against trolls and block them first chance we get. But what if we tried to figure out WHY they were attacking us? We might be surprised that some trolls could end up becoming our biggest fans.
I see too many streamers post content that has too much unnecessary junk. The junk results in people not staying and watching what could possibly be an amazing clip. This episode we talk about what to focus on to try and maximize the short attention span of social media platforms.
Us streamers know to post content on social media, but do you know how to leverage your social media into new viewers? This episode I talk about how I've leveraged social media into a good chunk of my current viewer base, all from about three other streamers I connected with via social media.
Happy New Year!! If you are considering starting to stream this year, go for it. I've heard some streamers gatekeep and say you shouldn't stream on Twitch because of the low discoverability and instead you should go to Youtube or Facebook. I say if you're willing to learn and work then ignore them and join us on Twitch.
We all love our communities, but a good streamer knows when to cut ties with community members who may not be helping us achieve our goals. Sometimes you have that member who you believe cutting ties with would be best, but how do you go about it? In this episode we identify these community members, how to go about removing them, and we get some insights from chat on this as well.
Wanna be part of these episodes as they're recorded live? Then check out twitch.tv/podzilla_ !
Sometimes a change is nice. You want to change your look, or your name, or everything about your stream. How do you go about this?? We go into detail about rebranding with two examples: myself and a member of my community who recently rebranded.
If you want to succeed as a streamer, you have to be able to look back at your past streams and see what works and what doesn't. Athletes watch film to learn where they can improve, why shouldn't you?
Turn. Off. Your. Viewer. Count. If you want to produce the best streams and best content possible, I highly recommend you turn off the viewer count or at least put it in a place where you can't see it consistently. The more you can focus on your content, the better your streams will be in the long run.
Recently I did a coaching stream in which I talked about Mix It Up, the bot I use that replaced Streamelements and Streamlabs in my chat. I talk a bit about the video in my channel, located on my Youtube which can be found here: Mix It Up Setup: The Ultimate Bot For Twitch Streamers! - YouTube
NEVER bring negativity into streaming, either as a streamer or a viewer. I wanted to bring this up because I've seen it on both sides and let me tell you, nobody wants to be around that here.
Continuing our community series with an episode dedicated to mine! I talk about what our "mission statement" is, how we support each other, and we get the perfect interruption from a past guest and member of the Pod Squad!
This is part 1 of a multi-part community series. The worst thing any streamer, big or small, could do is to NOT acknowledge their community. Your community is the whole reason you stream so make sure to let them know what they mean to you.
I talked about this on the Podcasting Janitor Show episode "Cold Calling", but I want to touch on it in the streaming world. I receive "those" messages far too often from people I've just come across: "I just followed you on Twitch, can you follow me back???" What a first impression, right? This is the entirely WRONG way to go about building a community and I talk about why in the episode.
Short episode this week, wanted to touch on something Ashley brought up in her episode. The only growth plan that works is the one that gets YOU results, not the one that gets someone else results that you're wanting to copy.
Brought my social media mentor Ashley on to this episode! Wanted to bring in a specialist to wrap up the social media series with a talk on hashtags and how to use them.
The kind of content you post on social media is key to finding success on there. You've gotta match up your content with your brand, or else you won't reach the optimal audience.
Social media is one of the key factors to grow your social media, and one of the factors that people seem to overlook the most. The discoverability and ability to promote your stream to people who may not know what you're about is huge for growth, so let's begin a little series on how to use social media effectively. Also be sure to check out Facebook for more content and to watch me occasionally go live with streams! fb.gg/thepodzilla or facebook.com/thepodzilla
Posting this episode early because of what I talk about. If you're a streamer, you've most likely heard of the Day Off Twitch a number of streamers are doing to try and force Twitch to fight against the hate raids that have been happening. In this episode I give my take on the Day Off Twitch and why it might not necessarily be a good thing to do. Let's fight this hate with love, not a day off.
When you want to try something new, getting started is the hardest part. You read into everything you do/may need and think way too much about it and next thing you know you've decided to not do it. Well with streaming, you don't need to really look into it. Take what tools you have, and get started!
Welcome to the first official episode of the rebranded podcast! Our first order of business: making a brand that represents YOU, the first thing all streamers need to do.
We're moving on! This is the first official episode of our new project, Podzilla's Guide To Streaming: a show where I help to motivate you and help you grow, but this time the focus is on my fellow streamers. Listen in as I talk about what made me make the shift and what YOU can expect from the new show.
Raise your hand if you've ever been frustrated because your hard work hasn't translated into the results you were hoping for. I'm sure a lot of you are raising hands right now. This week I share a short story of someone who waited 16 years before they could finally get close to the ultimate goal in their field. This is also the last episode before we pivot the show in another direction!!
We all want to have our work noticed, but not all of us are willing to put in the work necessary to have that happen. The VIPs of the world work harder, smarter, and better than the others, and it's time for you to do the same.
I absolutely loved doing this episode. This guy is so humble, and his story of grinding to reach Twitch Partner is one to listen to if you're working to reach your goals. The best part? None of this is an act with him.

Another guest episode this week, featuring my friend Ryan from college! We talk about his journey from Michigan to the Czech Republic, the moment he went into lockdown in a different country, and how he's listening to the community and ready to help them in the future.

It's sad to see so many people with large platforms and communities not use them to help others, specifically the people who helped get them to the place they are. Once I get to where I want to be I know it's my duty to help others rise with me.
This episode was months in the making, and of course like all times where you try something new something seems to not work. In this case, my mic was muted in the recording! This week we talk with my amazing streamer friend Kirsty, or as she's known on Twitch AmethystNyx. This is episode is highly motivational, as she had to endure something very traumatic in the past and has found a new calling in life.
If you want to support, here are her links:

Raise your hand if you've ever done something, gotten it to a "good enough" state, and called it good there. I know I'm raising my hand. Ever been truly happy with the results? I know I haven't. It's time for us to stop working for "good enough" and instead start working for "it is finished.
Shout out to Les Brown's speech for inspiring this episode.
When you're working toward a goal, you've always gotta "be hungry" and continue to work toward the goal no matter what. You've got to be able to sell your goal and the reason you need to achieve it to yourself if you want to succeed on the days where you just don't feel like going for it.
The people who have their eyes open are the ones who can't see. They see what other people tell them to see because they can't see their true selves.
I see it with people: they want the results, but are content to complain when they don't do anything different to achieve said results. It's time for us to realize that to reach our goals, we MUST do things differently.
When it comes to the end of your life, what will you be remembered for? Some of us will be remembered for the hard work we put in to get to the top of our field, others will be remembered for the hard work we put in to help others succeed and get to where they want to be in life. Which do you value most?
We tend to sell ourselves short when it comes to our abilities. We don't want to come off as too arrogant, so we stop just short of showing our true skills and it kills the whole thing. Well it's time to tell ourselves that we're just better than the person we try to sell to other people.
I'm sure you've sat there and had these REALLY good thoughts about things you want to do or achieve. You sit there and think and think, and think about what could go right, and what could go wrong, and how maybe you're not quite as good at it as you think, and maybe you actually suck at it, and maybe you'd get laughed at until you just decide that you're not gonna do that. Been there, done that. Don't analyze until you get analysis paralysis!!
Special shout out to Haley and Lauren over at the Sauce Box for letting me use the intro clip from their episode "Choose to Challenge"! Episode can be found at Choose to Challenge (buzzsprout.com)
Men, we've gotta do better. We can't act like having a certain anatomical part means we can just do whatever we want without consequences. If you do something like what's talked about in this episode, you should be ashamed of yourself. If you see something like this happening, do the right thing and step in.
This episode is different from our others! I was answering some questions asked on Twitch and decided to put the answers as an episode as I feel they could be beneficial and shed some light on my journey to this podcast.
Ever been passed over for a promotion? Maybe you made a mistake and messed up your weight loss/healthy living regimen. Whatever may have happened, you've got two choices: you can either let that mess-up cause you to lose sight of your goal and fall into a negative cycle of self-doubt, or you can use it as motivation to not let the same thing happen again next time.
You ever hear about the Butterfly Effect: how a butterfly flapping it's wings in one place can cause a tsunami or hurricane somewhere else? Well let's talk this week about how that kind of thing can happen in our lives, whether it be to ourselves or to people who witness what we do.
Stubborn always seems to have a negative connotation, doesn't it? "You're so stubborn" gets thrown out whenever we don't back down from something, whether a decision or a belief. But what if I told you that in order to find success, you absolutely have to be stubborn?
We've all run into those barriers in life that make us want to drop everything we're doing and quit. I know I certainly have, and in this episode I use examples from my life where I've wanted to quit. As I look back on my life however, I realize that if I had quit at each of the points I talk about the good things in my life would not have happened.
Ever wanted to do something, but that inner voice of fear says not to? That voice that says they'll make fun of you, laugh at you, let you know that you don't deserve to be there? Yeah, a lot of us have dealt with that. But guess what? NOBODY REALLY CARES. At least, not in the way your inner voice tells you.
What is going on?!? Just giving an update regarding the show and life in general, as things might get a little different soon.
Some people in this world can accomplish their goals without someone there for the ride, and to them I say "teach me your ways!" But for others, it's not easy to do something without someone to hold us accountable and keep us on the right path. That's why finding an accountabilibuddy is so important on the quest for success.
We've all been relegated to "the bench", whether at our jobs or on the playing fields. We have two options: give up and walk away, or keep grinding and keep your eyes open for the opportunity you need.
Decided to set the tone for what PodJan's People will be like with my own episode. This week I sit down and talk about the cautionary tale of how I followed my GoMiCo philosophy (before even knowing what it was) and lost 100 pounds in 11 months, and how I fell off the wagon and watched as all the weight came back. You want results? Then work!
One little step, one small milestone, one victory. That first step is all it takes to get the ball rolling and moving toward whatever it is you're trying to succeed at. 2020 sucked the life out of many people, let the start of 2021 kick off your best year yet.
My book!
Raise your hand if you've had something go the total opposite of what you were expecting. Now keep that hand up if that ended up benefitting you much more than what you were originally hoping for. That's our focus this week, seeing the good that comes from the totally unexpected. See you all in 2021!
P.S. Did you catch the big bombshell I dropped about the future???
So we've broken down all three keys to GoMiCo, now how we can really see it in action? With an episode dedicated to breaking down an example of course!
The last of my three keys to success: confidence! The only way to gain it is by constant repetition, no matter how good or bad it is.
Our second week of GoMiCo is something we've covered a lot in this podcast, but with a little different take. It's tough to focus solely on what we want to change about our thinking, but what if we make it a little easier?
GoMiCo is my three keys to success for all, so this week we're covering the first key. How to set your goals, break them down into manageable steps, and how to view what's necessary for the steps and what isn't necessary but will help you out.
..is love, sweet love. It doesn't matter which side of the aisle you stand on (or if you're even on one of the sides), the people who think differently are NOT the enemy. We need compassion and the ability to agree to disagree now more than ever.
We all have that one skill or trait that defines us, that we're the "GOAT" (Greatest Of All Time) at in our life. How can you use that skill in all facets of your life, from work to relationships and beyond?
The title says it all. You're not any better or any worse than anybody else alive, so check your ego at the door because you just might learn something.
Taking a bit of a Biblical turn here as we talk about the story of Samson. This story is proof that you'll always find ways to put your strengths to work, even if you think you've lost them.
Continuing our mindset talks with an episode we all may need to hear. We all have those times where we say we won't quit and we can do it, only to see ourselves break when faced with challenges. Strip away the facade and build yourself a solid, concrete mindset instead.
Need help integrating the Three -als into your life? DM me on social media or email nicholasjmcnamara22@gmail.com
Wrapping up our series with the final -al: personal. Your personal experiences shape your mindset more than anything else, which is why this is the toughest of the three -als to break away from/change.
We interrupt your previously scheduled continuation of our Three -als series to bring you this episode! My generation, and the ones after mine, have the power to bring to light the evil and hatred that would hide in the darkest corners. It starts right here and now.
The Podcasting Janitor Show
PLEASE listen to the last episode, as the last part of this series will tie the Three -als together!
This week is all about family! It's not easy having different views from your family, the ones who raised you, but it's even more difficult when you need to confront those differing views and continue on the road to changing your mindset.
The first part of our "Three -als" series is all about the impact society has on our mindsets. From the news, to social media, to work and even our friends, society plays a major role in shaping our thoughts. Thankfully, it's also an easier one to change due to the distance society can be from our lives.
When things don't go the way we want, it's SO easy to just lower our expectations for the next go-round. Once they're lowered though, we begin to invite that level of stuff into our lives and lower OURSELVES.
https://www.podpage.com/site/the-podcasting-janitor-show/
Change, while never fun, is necessary at times. The issue is we seem to come up with reasons as to why we won't change our current situations. Money, fame, sex, none of that is more important than being happy and changing our situation into one that makes us truly happy.
https://www.podpage.com/site/the-podcasting-janitor-show/
We as humans have come up with this current version of "perfect". Yet, what really is perfection? Spoiler alert: it's NOT real. Social media and society have created this false idea of what perfection is, and I'm here to break that apart.
