Day in and day out, we are faced with an opportunity to become constricted or to expand… I know which one I would prefer! When we surround ourselves with communities that allow us to be vulnerable and share what is going on in our world, it allows our minds to catch the bullshit stories and live expansively as the genuine best version of ourselves for firstly, ourselves, then our family, and our businesses.

This is why I believe the world is becoming a better place because when we are vulnerable, we are UNBEATABLE!

Adam Kavanagh is your modern day caveman.

He chooses to live off the land for long periods of time, only eating what he catches and giving back to the land in a very respectful way.

Adam has deep, sacred connections to indigenous locals at the top end and has been accepted as one of the very few white men allowed to hunt and live on their land.

If you think it's tough to shop at the markets or supermarket each week, you’ll gain a whole new level of respect for your food and eating experiences after listening to this episode.

He’s also made his living from taking people on tours and giving them these intense rights of passage that you’ll hear him explain.

When I think of people living unbeatable lives, I think of, and am deeply inspired by, Kath Koschel. That’s why she’s the first guest in this Unbeatable series. If breaking her back on two separate occasions and learning to walk for the third time in her life wasn’t enough to break her, losing her partner, the love of her life to suicide pushed her terrifyingly close to the edge.  She also fought off a tumour, almost got her leg amputated, and has experienced her own mental health battles. Through her astounding resilience, Kath was able to create joy out of sorrow, to become one of Australia’s youngest CEO’s and the founder of the global movement and not for profit organisation Kindness Factory. If you haven't listened to the first episode with Kath, it was number 17 way back in 2017 and it is an absolute must of a listen to understand why I invited her onto this Unbeatable series. As humans we’re great at creating mental barriers and internal dialogue to stop us from having the good hard crack at life, that we really know we’re capable of. In our business or career we might know we’re destined for more and we can be making a greater impact, but those voices in our heads keep holding us back.

The good old IMPOSTER MONSTER. That imposter syndrome that is at its greatest force when you’re starting something new or considering starting something new.

There’s a great saying “when you’re inside the jar, you can’t read the label”.

So when we’re inside our hamster wheel of our day to day life, or in the grind, hustle and busy-ness of our work commitments - that’s us inside our jar and we don't have a great perspective of what changes we need to make.

In this short episode I discuss this concept in more detail and give you some actionable steps you can implement straight away.

In 2001, Scott found himself going from a 35-year-old athletic father, husband, and business owner, to lying in a hospital bed literally paralysed unable to move. And the Dr’s knew there was a slim chance he’d ever walk again. Using visualisation techniques over the course of a year, Scott was able to heal himself.

Blaming himself, he was broken once again. Standing in a room on fire, Scott was faced with running through those flames to end up at the empowered life that he lives now.

Today, he shows others how to run through their own flames to find freedom from their own minds and limitations in order to live a life of passion and purpose.

In this episode we discuss: Understanding limiting beliefs around relationships, money, and health Using breathwork to overcome unworthiness, guilt and addictions   The power of visualisation and other natural remedies to heal illness & disease Letting go of the emotion of loss The power of your mind How to incorporate the breathwork and Law of Attraction into your business and personal life for sustainable results. It’s not selfish to prioritise self time, self care, good health and wellbeing. It’s actually very selfless. If you want to be a great parent, business leader or community member, or If you just want to enjoy life more and improve the quality of your life, you must put yourself first. Putting yourself first doesn’t mean neglecting business or work, or neglecting family or friends or needing to spend huge amounts of time on yourself - it’s the harmony, and the discipline and the consistency of focusing on your best self and what’s required to live that way. In this short episode I discuss the top things holding us back from putting ourselves first and what impact this has in our personal and professional life, and what we can do to make the important changes required. Success leaves clues, and one of those clues that I've mapped across many high achievers in sport, entrepreneurship, business and most importantly to me - the ones who live holistically with the harmony of a happy life or happy family life - the clue that I’ve mapped across that is that they have an awareness of a hawk on steroids. Very little slips their mind and drives them into the negative spirals. They have acceptance of themselves and the external environment to the point where not even death makes them crumble. And their skill of focus is the level of a world record holder - focusing on WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT IN THE PRESENT MOMENT OF TIME that is contributing to them being the best version of themselves in that moment, across all domains! In this 10 minute podcast episode I open up this discussion more & give you ideas to help sharpen these skills of yours & how you have an opportunity to bring them into your daily life and support you in exceeding your goals & visions. “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves". A famous quote from Viktor Frankl who served many years in a concentration camp during world war 2. This to me sums up most of our lives and if you can live by this message then you’ll grow stronger and have more success and happiness because you won’t fall victim to your circumstances, you will instead choose to accept that you can’t change some things in your environment, BUT, you can always change yourself, change your perspective and change your attitude towards it. For a lot of people, 2020 has been one of the most difficult and challenging years of their life. I also believe this means it is one of the greatest opportunities to grow stronger and more resilient from these unprecedented challenges. In this episode I discuss ways you can personally reflect on your year, I challenge you to not think about the situations that were handed to you that you had no control over and what judgement you have on them, I challenge you to ask yourself the deeper reflective questions of how you chose to show up - CONSISTENTLY - and whether you’re super clear on who you are at your best and if you know how to CONSISTENTLY show up as this version everyday, through thick and thin, to ensure 2021 is the beginning of your most empowered journey and not just another year of grinding, hustling, being frustrated and feeling stuck and HOPING everything will be ok.  You already have your best self inside of you.  The question is, Are you willing to do the work to be the inspired, influential and impactful leader in your personal and professional life and bask in the joy of your most impactful and empowered self ever? If you are keen to make 2021 your best year yet I’ve got some good news! I’ll be doing more online programs and more one on one coaching with clients all around the world than ever before, because in reflection of what allows me to have the most impactful and aligned life and show up as my best self is to empower driven leaders in their business or companies like yourself, to not Die with the music in you. To ensure you’re empowered to create a ripple effect in your life and your community, your business, your company, your projects - everywhere. Being the change you want to see in the world! Stay tuned for more details on how you can be involved through 2021 and if you’re one of those committed action takers that just wants to be involved right now and you don’t want to wait, or if you’re reading these episode notes in 2021 or later years, reach out and let me know that you’re keen, committed and ready and I can start to share some bonus material with you early.  email: info@brettrobbo.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/brettrobbo1/?hl=en (@brettrobbo1) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/brettrobbocoach (Brett Robbo Coach)

Are you inspired by other driven humans who organise their life for success and share their strategies? You're going to get a lot of value from this episode! Stephanie Gilmore is an Australian professional surfer and seven-time world champion on the Women's ASP World Tour. She won her first world title as a rookie, followed by three consecutive world titles - an accomplishment no other surfer has achieved in the history of men's or women's surfing For her triumphs, Stephanie has also been awarded the Laureus World Sports Award in 2010, considered the most prestigious award in action sports worldwide! As with most professional athletes I have on this show I don’t talk much about Steph's surfing, I dive deep into understanding who steph is and how she navigates life from her unapologetically authentic approach to her personal life and professional career.  In this episode we discuss: The power and importance of living your true authentic self. The challenges for females in male dominated industries and the struggle of trying to prove oneself as opposed to showing up authentically. How Steph’s scariest and darkest moments became one of her greatest assets. How to transform your mindset into optimism and belief.  What it means to compete and win from a place of love. The important factors in the recipe for focus and success. And much more about the challenges and beauty of life.

Imagine if you found out the reason you weren’t living the life you truly desired and weren’t achieving the goals and visions you REALLY wanted to achieve, and you weren’t making the impact in the world that you knew you could, was because you have been conditioned to believe you’re not good enough, not worthy or it’s not possible because you don’t know how, or any of those other bullshit stories we tell ourselves!!! This episode is one of my best mates Amber Hawken interviewing me on her podcast, 'The Amber Hawken Podcast'. Amber is an amazing coach and therapist and did a great job of getting me to discuss things differently than I have on other podcast interviews and I even went places I've never been before with anyone.  Amber is one of those abundant humans in my life that lives unapologetically authentic and has a deep, profound impact in people's lives through the work she does and also through the free value she gives on her platforms. In this episode we discuss:  What turns a country boy into an elitist who THRIVEs in all areas of life. The power of gratitude and its connection to performance. How to stay focused on your vision and goals when the world around you is noisy. Overcoming bullying when following your purpose. The link between human behaviour and performance. The foundations of wellbeing we can transform in our everyday life. Using acceptance and commitment to transform rage and blame. How your external environment does not determine your internal state. What thriving is for you will be different to what thriving is for me, and will be different again to what thriving is for Amber. Ultimately, your ability to thrive comes down to choice and alignment. Right now we have an opportunity to reflect and choose and truly decide if we've been living in alignment or not. This is another episode where I'm bringing on former guests to share their experiences, challenges and beliefs about the current world crisis and also their tips and strategies on how we can all thrive in these challenging times and not just survive - to give us different ways to think about our situations, our lives, our existence and our reality.  In this episode we discuss: Amber’s greatest personal learnings in these challenging times. Questions from you listeners who submitted into the facebook group, like: How to maintain discipline of alignment, good routines and habits when you’re back in the commute and pressure of work again.  We discuss how Amber believes we can all Thrive and what thriving actually means to her.  Why shifting energy before taking action is so important.  How and why personal experience in certain areas of life aren’t prerequisites of great coaching. Amber’s 12 week coaching program called “supercharged” and how you can build quantum resilience from it.  And we chat about a project her and I have been working on before and during the COVID period that we’re extremely proud of and excited to share with you all, called the THRIVE series.

Are you keen to support your immune system and thrive? Guess what? The way you think, the emotions you choose to experience, the food you eat and drinks you drink, the amount you move and exercise, how you stay connected to people, how well you sleep and of course how you breathe – all have an effect on your immune system. They all change your hormones and when we're in "survival mode" you live life in that "fight or flight" sympathetic nervous system stress response where your body increases all the stress hormones and decreases the amount of healthy, helpful hormones in your body, impacting your ability to fight viruses, illness and disease. When you're living life in "thriving mode" they decrease your stress hormones and increase your helpful and healthy hormones which support your immune system and overall well-being! Times are different now. Very different. Unpredictably different! I acknowledge and respect these are quite challenging times for many people, however, I believe we can thrive in these challenging times and not just survive! If we’re all in this together I believe it’s our OPPORTUNITY to shift our scarcity and fear based mindsets into ABUNDANCE mindsets - and to role model the way! I LOVE the saying from Mahatma Gandhi – "Be The Change You Want To See In The World". Think about that at a time like now….. I really challenge you to think about this deeply and see yourself on the other side of these isolated and lockdown periods. Whether it’s 3/6/12 or 18 months. How do you want to be on the other side? Angry, lonely, emotionally unstable, unhealthy, overweight, pessimistic? Or happy, connected in ways like never before, mentally and emotionally more resilient because of the work you’ve done, healthier and more active than ever before and proud of who you were through the challenging times and who you’ve become? This episode isn’t me talking about all the news and impact of the current world crisis. There’s enough of that in the media and on social media. My opinion of what’s happening isn’t what’s valuable. This is about my opportunity to role model the way AND share the value that the world needs now more than ever - the knowledge, skills and resources to not only support our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing but also how to THRIVE in these key areas of life during these times of unprecedented uncertainty. Shivani Gupta is a global speaker, author of 8 books and a mentor for working women. She’s an entrepreneur who runs 5 businesses, serves on several boards and is a mother of two kids, Om and Shanti.

Shivani is also what i’m going to term a passionista – She’s a globally recognised expert in Passion – and that’s the main topic of conversation in today’s episode.

Don’t worry, this isn’t a chat about us suggesting you go out and simply find your passion.

Shivani has a great model to help you understand your 7 areas of passion and how you can prioritise them to minimise guilt and shame and suffering in your life by creating clarity and actually start achieving your goals by aligning them with YOUR true passions.

A blurb about Shivani from her website:

I live by some simple rules: Be authentic. Love fiercely. People that hurt you are your teachers – forgive and let go. Live passionately. Live as if it was your last.”

This is a brilliant episode that I took a lot of value form because it’s helped me understand human behaviour from a different perspective and create clarity on  passions and the alignment with values, goals and beliefs.

Be sure to stay tuned until the end of this chat to hear the link between Shivani’s top core passions and some of her greatest adversities!

Is regret an emotional condition that’s hindering you, holding you back and triggering resentment, guilt or remorse? Or have you done the work and able to see your regrets as great life lessons?!

In this short episode I break down an emotional equation for regret:

Regret = Disappointment + Responsibility

This is referenced from the book “Emotional Equations – Simple Formulas To Help Your Life Work Better” by Chip Conley.

Regret comes in all shapes and sizes and raises the emotional stakes of decisions. It doesn’t just result from the actions we take; it also comes from those actions we wish we had taken!

Let’s see how regret plays out in your life?

There’s power AND potency in expectations!

In this short episode I vulnerably discuss how my expectations fuelled frustration and even fear within me recently and how i’ve struggled with this since my beautiful son Oliver was born!

I also unpack the blessings and curses of expectations from a few different perspectives:

One from Kurt Fearnley and his belief about us not having high enough expectations of ourselves.

One from Tony Robbins and his famous quote to “Trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole world changes in an instant!”

References from one of my favourite recent book discoveries https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=%22Emotional+Equations%3A+Simple+Formulas+To+Help+Your+Life+Work+Better%22&ref=nb_sb_noss (“Emotional Equations: Simple Formulas To Help Your Life Work Better”)

Are your expectations helping you or hindering you? Do they fuel you or deflate you?

What tools will you use to navigate your emotional agility, your mindset, your actions and your quality of life?!

Resources discussed in this episode:

Allan Sparkes is the Deputy Commissioner of the Mental Health Commission of NSW and a former police officer who served on the front line for 20 years, where he was involved in the horrific aftermath of the Hilton bombing, arrested some of Australia’s most notorious criminals and faced the tragedy of murdered colleagues.

Allan is one of Australia’s most highly decorated citizens. He is one of only five Australians in the past 43 years to be awarded Australia’s highest bravery decoration and highest civil award, https://www.allansparkes.com/?p=1852 (the Cross of Valour), awarded for ‘acts of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme peril’. Allan discusses this incident with us in detail in this episode.

In January 2017, Allan was named in the Australia Day Honours List and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to mental health support organisations and the community. In August 2016, Allan was awarded Australia’s fourth highest bravery decoration, the Commendation for Brave Conduct – once again, Allan talks us through this conduct in this episode.

In December 2012, Allan was one of only 10 Australians to be presented the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. He is also the recipient of other significant awards for bravery, valour and service including the Royal Humane Society Galleghan Award and the New South Wales Police Commissioner’s Valour Award.

So, it’s safe to say that Allan knows a thing or two about bravery and mental health. And that’s what this episode is all about.

His story is a magnificent example of turning fear into courage and failure into success.

He’s also the author of ‘The Cost of Bravery’ which covers a lot more of his epic journey and I highly recommend you grab a copy here: https://www.allansparkes.com/ (www.allansparkes.com)

In this episode we discuss:

Bravery – what is it and are we all wired to be brave?!

Allan’s captivating experiences of bravery that saved people’s lives.

The Change Room Program and why he’s so passionate about his impact there.

What it was like being a police officer in Kings Cross and arresting some of Australia’s most notorious criminals.

His experiences in the darkest moments of his life.

His relationship with his wife in those challenging year’s.

What worked for Allan to revitalise his mental health.

Why a proactive approach to Mental Health is so important!

His 4 foundation stones that we should all be nourishing and why.

How Allan reversed type 2 diabetes!

The Mental Health Continuum model and how it can help you.

The health and wellbeing space can be so noisy and confusing!

What does “healthy” actually mean?!

I’ve certainly failed this area in periods of my life and gambled with stupid, unhealthy choices consistently. I’ve essentially “waited for my health tsunami to hit”. Thankfully it didn’t and I’ve been able to learn and implement healthy lifestyle habits and realign my human experience.

Reality is, our health is with us everyday, for the rest of our lives and the more we respect it and invest into it wisely, the better the dividends will be!

I believe being healthy is not about being “perfect”. Being healthy is about improving the QUALITY of your life with small steps at a time and enjoying life more! Enjoy your hobbies more, your family time, your holidays – even your job more!!!

I’m not claiming to be a “health expert” and I never pretend to have all the answers. However, i’m truly passionate about helping people on their health and wellbeing journey and cutting through some of the confusion out there.

In this episode I discuss some of my experiences and my beliefs around a couple of areas of health, some of the ways i’ve “failed” and why my beliefs and choices have shifted over the years.

I don’t believe being healthy is being “strict” and perfect with your choices 100% of the time. But, some people do, and that’s ok. I believe in equipping yourself with the greatest amount of knowledge and awareness so you can make conscious choices consistently and enjoy a greater quality of life!

Melissa Ambrosini is the bestselling author of two books – Mastering Your Mean Girl and Open Wide, host of the number one podcast ‘The Melissa Ambrosini Show’, a motivational speaker and self-love teacher.

Named a ‘self-help guru’ by Elle Magazine, her message — that love is sexy, healthy is liberating, and wealthy isn’t a dirty word — has inspired women across the globe to activate their dreams and live a life on their own terms.

For all men who are reading and thinking, “hmmm is this episode just valuable for women?” Let me assure you it’s not. Everything we speak about is applicable to you, if you are human!

In this episode we discuss:

Why Melissa believes all people on the planet should do ongoing inner personal development work.

Why there’s no judgement to people who don’t do “the inner work”

Melissa’s epic health battles and why she changed the trajectory of her life dramatically!

I also get vulnerable with Melissa and discuss how I used to judge her and not resonate with her way of being – Her message, her way of communicating her message – until I had an aha moment and a connected realisation and then started following her podcast and her work closely.

We then discuss why judgement is a toxic human behaviour and what we can do to move away from our judgement.

We talk a lot about Crystal Clear Communication in all relationships.

How she and her husband Nick create guidelines and boundaries to ensure they’re always nourishing their relationship.

We discuss running business with your loved ones and how to set great boundaries.

And why the grass is not greener on the other side, it’s always greener where you water it!

WIN MELISSA’S BEST SELLING BOOKS!!!

Anthony Minichiello is one of Australia’s greatest athletes with a powerful story of recovering from SERIOUS spinal injuries naturally, and using his lived experience to empower all humans to make healthier choices to improve their quality of life!

As usual when I get High Performance athletes and coaches on this podcast, we don’t really talk too much about his sport.

Mini (Anthony’s nickname) is also the creator of https://www.minifit.com.au/about-minifit/ (Minifit), which is improving the growth and development of children through physical exercise and education on healthy eating, sleep and hydration.

He’s a proud husband and father, ambassador for the Sydney Roosters, and a Mentor for https://www.thechangeroom.info/ (The Change Room Program), which is derived from the latest wellbeing and resilience techniques used by high performing individuals and teams across the globe.

Mini is a loyal “one club man” and his career as a player for the Sydney Roosters spanned over 15 seasons, playing in six grand finals and winning two Premierships!

In the representative arena, he played for Australia on 18 occasions, captained Italy in the 2013 World Cup, made 11 appearances for the NSW Blues and represented NSW City four times.

In 2005, Mini won the ‘Golden Boot’, awarded to the player voted the Best in the World!

In this episode we discuss:

How he helped heal chronic disc injuries in his spine through changing his approach to his eating.

Why surgeons told him he should give up playing football and why he went against this advice and proved them wrong.

His 4 step process around making healthier choices and WHY it’s vital for all humans!

We cover intermittent fasting, whole foods, danger of certain oils, benefits of healthy fats, the power of bone broth and so much more around specifics of healthy food choices.

We discuss why it’s not actually more expensive to eat well and how you can do it so affordably!

How he and I have always been fit, but not always been healthy and why we were led to believe we were healthy.

Athlete transition in alignment with purpose.

His passion and purpose to improve the growth and development of children !

And so much more.
