It's hard to imagine going through something as devastating as losing a baby. But for many couples, it's a reality they have to face. And while it's certainly not easy, there is support available to help you through this difficult time.

If you or your partner has experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death, you're likely to experience a range of emotions, including grief, sadness, anger, and guilt. It's important to allow yourselves to feel these emotions and to grieve in your own way. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to grieve.

It can be helpful to talk about your feelings with others who have been through a similar experience. There are many support groups available, both in person and online. These groups can provide a valuable source of information, support, and understanding.

Lee Taylor of Felixtowe Radio, Over the next few weeks I will be putting together some shows that will give you the tools needed to become a better, happier and wealthier person.

The shows will be based on techniques I used to improve my own life and that of many of my clients. I will show you how I went from being a complete mess with no ambition and purpose to being in control of my life and having the ability to build great wealth for myself.

When I talk about wealth I don’t just mean monetary wealth I mean, Love happiness and of course money.

Over the next few weeks, I will share some habits that I have formed to change my life forever.

I used to be a real mess and the only habits I had were bad ones. Life had no structure or meaning. I lived day by day talking it as it came. Every day was made up as I went along. I never achieved much as I had nothing to aim for.

I wasted so much time that I will never get back. Looking back I have very few good memories as I never focussed on what I was doing. I lived in a future world where one-day things would be better, I dat dreamt about a better life and invented fantasy worlds where I was achieving.

The problem with one day is it doesn’t exist, look in your diary you will see Monday to Sunday but no one day. When we set our goals to do something one day it never comes. When we don’t make plans and form habits we have no idea where we are going and how to get there.

So when you want to change your life and become happier and wealthier you need to first focus on what is real in your life. This is The Reality Habit: I will teach you thi one today and you will be able to recognize what is real and take the first step toward making your dreams come true.

Next week I will teach you - The Attitude Habit: Recognize that you are in control. Things don't happen to you, you make things happen.

And the week after - The Present Living Habit: Recognize that happiness is not a goal in your life, but a state of mind. Strive for a better future, but live for today.

As I move along with presenting there are also a number of other habits that I can teach to help the listeners improve week by week.

It really is going to be a great few weeks where if you follow along, take notes and put what I say into practice, you will be able to take your life to the next level and beyond.

So what is the reality habit and why is it so important?

I have wanted to write for many years, always starting and stopping, never having the courage to put myself out there,
I was so scared of feedback and what people would think I couldn't complete any of the books I tried to write.

It lead me to get down and giving up feel so disappointed with myself.

These days I am more confident and clear about what I want. I got over my fear of rejecting by being brave and telling people what I was doing. This led to me having to commit as I didn't want to make myself out to be a liar or failure,

As people knew I was writing I then asked them to read my first draft and give me feedback. Thank goodness I did, the feedback wasn't great and to have tried to publish would have been awful.

Initially I was upset by what I had heard then I had a realisation that not everyone could be wrong and I need to change.

As I type this I am on chapter 7 of 9 and on course for a much better book than I ever dreamed of. In this episode I talk about the journey I went on and how asking for help has made me so much better.

Do you ever feel that you are too hard on yourself? Do you give yourself credit for what you achieve and take time to appreciate what you have?

I’n today’s episode I talk about how I never gave myself any credit and never appreciated what I had as a result.

I used to always want more, never stopping to see what I had and always felt like I was an underachiever because I compared myself to others.

No Matter what I did I would see people with more and feel inadequate.

I know I am not alone as many of my clients also feel the same,

I client recently told me that he saw people on social media with so much wealth and happiness and although he knew a lot was fake, it still made him feel bad about himself.

He felt the same as i di, he felt lost and inadequate. He wanted more and was unhappy that he wasn’t getting it.

He went into a cycle of working harder, trying to get more, then he burned out, got frustrated and felt like quitting a loser.

I’ve been there and I bet many listening have as well. The funny thing with my client was, when we deep dived into what he really wanted, He wanted a stress free, life, a small house in the country and the ability to spend time with his family and breed his dogs.

The life of fast cars, boats, mansions and money didn't actually figure in his plans at all. He just wanted a content and happy life.

He is very much like I was before I gained clarity in my life. I always thought I wanted to have a company that traded around the world. I wanted to be an international speaker, jetting off to far places.

I wanted to own a football club and I had dreams way bigger than most. However I never really wanted these things.

I dreamed and got frustrated when I didn’t get them, but I never planned for them, I never worked towards them as they were not really what I wanted.

When I gained clarity, I like my client realised I wanted time with my family the most. I wanted Freedom and a stress free life more than anything.

I wanted a business where I had wealth and I wanted to be able to invest and build wealth at my own pace.

Don’t get me wrong I want to have lots of money, money is good, it helps you have a stress free life with choices. It gives you freedom. But I didn’t want to have it at the expense of my family.

If I was away travelling, speaking and working, I may earn more money but I would never have the time with the family.

For my client & I we both got down by comparing ourselves to other people, we looked at their lives and thought they had what we wanted.

For us to improve our happiness we needed to go on a journey, we both looked into the future to see what we wanted, we asked ourselves what would make us happy.

You would have expected us to say, big houses, luxury yachts and cars, all the flash things we saw on facebook. But we both wrote down words like -

Happiness

Stress free life

Family time

Contentment

Simple

Easy

Free

These words meant to us a lot, they symbolised how we wanted our life to be - My client wanted a little house in the country, he wanted to be happy, he wanted a nice business that gave him and his family a lovely life.

Listen to the rest of the content.

When investing in a business how do some people never get over working for themselves whilst some go on to found companies turning over 100’s of millions and trading worldwide?

One man who did exactly that was former owner of the Jewellery chain Ratners. Ratner at the height of his success had approx. 2.5K shops and was on top of the world.

I was listening to a live coaching session on Facebook. A young woman won the opportunity to be mentored by 2 men - Rob Moore and Gerald Ratner. During this mentoring session, Ratner said something that stuck with me - You will never get anywhere as a one man band.

Both men are hugely successful, Rob Moore has made a fortune in Property and training and Ratner made his fortune with the retail jewelry chain Ratners.

Ratner became quite infamous when he literally destroyed his business with one quote. This single quote was attributed to the loss of 122 million in revenue. I can remember the press were all over the poor man, he made an innocent joke about a cheap product he sold and he was hung by the media.

The worse thing was, people knew Ratners sold cheap jewellery, you could buy gold earrings for under a £1 but the press went for him and Ratner was eventually sacked from the business he built.

Since that speech, Gerald went on a journey to re-invent himself. He went from a £650K salary in the 1990’s to 7 years with no money, He cycled to keep his sanity and slowly started to rebuild his life.

I read that he came up with an ingenious was to start a health club. He advertised in the paper her was opening and the membership was Free,

500 people signed up to the club before it was open. He then went to the bank and said he had 500 members and needed a loan.

He later sold the business for 3.9 million. So the man knows a thing or 2 about business and he is very open about the mistakes he has made.

He no longer has the business with hundreds of millions in revenue, however he has rebuilt a new online jewellers with an estimated revenue of 35 million.

So whatever you think of the man, he is one of the ultimate re-inventors. But how did he go from hero to zero and back up again.

Well for starters you need to understand the power of people, Ratner says, you will never get anywhere as a one man band and you have to delegate. During the interview he tells the student that she has to forget about people letting her down.

He goes on to say that people can be control freaks, have 1 store and be perfect, then go nowhere in life. Or you can have 2500 stores and make slime sacrifices.

It wont be perfect or the way you want it to be completely, but it’s preferable to doing everything you want yourself, everyday in 1 store and going nowhere.

Rob Morre then adds, ‘You will get pain in either area’ If you do everything yourself you have all the pain yourself, if people come in to help, you have the pain of managing these people and trusting them.

Either way is painful, it just depends on if you want to grow or not. You basically need to make a choice

  1. Go alone - control everything, make it perfect and stay on your own
  2. Find the best people you can to help you, trust them, accept things may not be exactly how you want and leverage their time to help you do more.

Got some exciting news. I’ve been asked by a local radio station to present a weekly show. The show will be about how people re-invent themselves, build businesses and change their lives for the better.

I am currently working on the format and a guest list as I want to interview people for the show.

Aim is to record it and use it within this podcast and post to youtube and other social media outlets.

Hopefully it will inspire and educate which has always been my goal.

So how did this happen? What did I do to get myself on the Radio? And how will it benefit the listeners and myself?

I believe the more you give the more you get back. I will show you in this episode why giving is so powerful and why thinking of others first is a must.

When you listen you will find out the power giving has and how you can harness that power for your own benefit.

This show is what I am all about, whenever i do something I always look at add value and never expect anything in return. I may know why I want to do something but very often I never know What I will have to do.

But that never bothers me, unless I think it may be illegal or harm others I will usually give something a go if I know Why I’m doing something.

When I set up my care business I had no idea how to run a care company but I knew Why I wanted that business. I wanted to help the sick and vulnerable have a better life.

Same for my gym, I’d never worked in a gym or had any idea how to run one, but I knew I wanted people improve themselves.

Even this podcast, I had no idea how to do it just why I wanted to do it.

And thats when the magic happens, you know why you want to do something so you do it,

You start and worry about how to do it later,

Just get started and see what happens. The more you do and the more you put yourself out there, the more you get back.

I always give as much as I can. I keep giving and see where it goes. The more people who know about me the more relationships I have with people,

The more relationships the more opportunity comes my way.

Eben the Radio show was because I built relationships with people at the station, they asked me to present and I said YES.

I have a little idea of what to do and I know why I want to do it.

If allowed I will add the show to this podcast so you can listen. Who knows what it will bring but I am sure it will bring more positive things to me because I have more opportunity.

The lesson is put yourself out there, work out why you want to do something and do it.

Dont worry about what and how, just give it a go.

The more you do the better you get, the better you get the easier it becomes.

You will build relationships as people will notice you.

Opportunities will come your way and you will be successful.

Among us is a popular game with Kids and I must admit I enjoy playing it as well. The concept is there is a crew of players and amongst them is an imposter(s).

The aim is for the crew to work out who the imposters are before they are killed. My kids, friends and I often play the game in real life at the playground. It's fun and better than being stuck indoors.

We get fresh air and exercise whilst enjoying ourselves. After a recent game, I was thinking about how the game translates to the business world. It hit me that whatever business was in there was always an imposter.

In this episode, I talk about how I have dealt with imposters in the past, how I have used them and moved them on.

I have always had limiting beliefs about money. I grew up in a poor council estate area where people didn't have much. I was taught money was the route of all evil and only the rich had money.

Money seemed something only greedy people had and I was also told never to be greedy. It's no wonder that I always struggled to hold onto my money.

Being social people, I can and still don’t understand the term social distancing - what is social about that. I need to be around people, see them close up and have fun.

When I do this life is better, I feel happier and more alive. I bet it improves my health as well.

Social distancing and mask-wearing, just depresses me, makes me sad and I bet as a consequence makes me unhealthy.

Covid has been here for a year, nothing has worked or is working. The UK has rolled out a massive vaccination programme yet still insist on weekly testing twice a week and banned travel.

What was the point of people getting vaccinated? I read the other day that a Californian firm founded by a Chinese businessman from Wuhan was paid 2.8 Billion to supply the lateral flow tests. Maybe that’s the point? It’s a big money-spinner. Now there’s a conspiracy theory for you.

On a less Rabit hole related theme, I’m up to 45 minutes of running now, 10 weeks in from my couch to 10K journey I have gone from struggling to run for 1 minute to running 3 x 15 mins with a 1 min break in between.

It won’t be long and I’ll hit 45 mins consecutive and be on target to reach the 10K goal.

Trading is going well, the crypto market is up and I have seen good gains on my Etherium portfolio. Gold hasn’t moved much which is surprising but that may be because people are looking more at Bitcoin for better gains. Either way, I’m happy to hold both and as these are long term strategies I Ok with wherever the price goes.

Weather-wise we have had a mixture of rain, snow, sun and wind all within a few hours. The weather has been crazy. Last night it snowed quite hard for a while and today It’s like a summers day in Spain. We will be out later with our girls. A long walk and playtime in the playground.

I have been really busy with work, The gym is opening again and I’m excited about that. My book is coming on well, I’m getting into a routine for the editing which I hate. I will be sending it out to Beta readers soon for feedback.

Then I’ll edit it again and send it to the publisher for more feedback.

I’ve also contacted a travel agent to seek advice on booking my wedding. I got engaged recently and I do not want to just sit on the engagement without setting a date. It’s hard to plan at the moment, I’d like to travel abroad and get married in a hot country, however, who knows what we will be able to do travel-wise.

But I’m not stopping going forward with plans. It’s important to keep looking forward to things. It helps me massively to have hope in my life.

I’ll be writing some courses soon for my clients and adding a new coaching programme to my website so all in all I have a lot to do.

This leads me to this Podcast. I have struggled recently to get a show out every day and haven’t felt like I put much effort into it. I love doing it and want to continue for the long term. However, I may cut it back to three times per week. Probably Monday Wednesday and Friday’s

My aim is to think about what I want to say in between shows rather than make it up as I go along.

As I speak I am nearly at 100 episodes so I haven’t done badly, I just want to add more value. It’s a shame with Podcast that there isn’t much interaction with listeners so I have no idea what the majority of people think.

So maybe I’ll go three times a week and gauge the volume of listens and see how it goes.

Make sure you listen for the remainder...

Giving Feedback to employees -

The first step is to think about if your employee needs appreciation, mentoring or evaluation.

Appreciation is very straightforward, who doesn’t like to be appreciated? The trick is to get in quick. If an employee does something well, notice and appreciate the act. Tell them quickly why the memory is fresh for both of you.

This will reinforce their behaviour to do more of the same. Acting quickly and positively will build better relationships. New employees or employees working on a project for the first time will benefit greatly from feeling appreciated.

When we mentor our employees we are trying to help them learn and grow. They may deliver a speech and struggle in some of the presentations. This would be a good time to mentor and show how they can improve.

Finally, we have the evaluation - this is when we let our employees know where they stand. We can let them know if they are meeting expectations or not.

When in any of the situations you need to remember one key thing - There are three aspects to consider - You, what you will say - your employee and either the problem or act you are appraising.

Many employers focus on the problem and not the employee. Do this and you will alienate the other person. If your employee feels unlistened to they will resent your advice. The last thing wanted is a meeting that ends in frustration and the employee feels attacked.

The way forward is always to let your employees know your intentions. Side with them to work on the problem. You want them to do well, you are in their corner, let them know.

If your employee expresses concerns, repeat what they tell you, this reinforces that you have listened. Loo at the concerns and ask for feedback on what the employee sees as a solution. Very often the employee has better ideas as they are on the ground floor seeing problems as they happen.

When you listen to your employee try to see their point of view. Do not judge, instead show you empathise with them. This will reduce stress and allow for a better understanding of each other.

Add praise whenever you can, people love to be praised. Obviously not for every little detail as people will start to block it out. In study’s, 80% of managers say they praise regularly however on 20% of employees say they hear the praise.

Effective managers give way more praise than criticism. A study at the University of Michigan found the highest performing teams received 5.6 times more praise for every criticism.

Praise is most effective when the recognition is because the act benefitted the team. When an employee works on something they are good at for part of their job, they get rewarded anyway for doing their job, when the task benefits the whole team, this is a great time to praise.

Letting employees know how they benefit others creates awareness of how they impact the whole business.

Praise your employees for benefitting the team and they will be hungry to do more. The more the team benefits the stronger the company grows as a unit.

The hardest part of feedback is when the conversation starts with a negative and a difficult. Always give negative feedback on a 1-2-1 basis the only exception is when the issue concerns the whole team.

When addressing a team, be careful not to single out just one person.

When I coach my employees it is always with a growth mindset, this shows them that everything they need to improve can be learned. For instance, if an employee didn’t sell a product. I wouldn’t tell him he was terrible at sales and a bad negotiator.

Today I was supposed to plan out a new coaching programme for my coaching business. Unfortunately, our babysitter cancelled and we had to change plans.

Luckily I have a life that is completely free and I can do what I want when I want, so I took most of the day off and hardly worked at all.

Coincidently having this type of life is how we will be coaching our clients to be able to live their lives.

In this episode, I talk a little about the changes we are making and why we will be making them.

Last year has been a challenge for many, myself included. Recently I have seen some normality come back and people seem to be a bit more relaxed.

Today I have been running, seen a Dinosaur and went on a very long walk. All because I wanted to use my time to get fit and start connecting with people again.

The most successful brands don’t sell products they sell lifestyles. The strongest brands are instantly recognisable and stand for a specific value. Take for instance Nike - this is, without doubt, a strong brand. The swooshing tick is instantly recognisable. See this and you will know it relates to sportswear.

A strong brand tells the world what you are about and what they can expect from you. Nike has a ‘tick’ that tells you they offer sports goods that look great and fits in with a sporting genre.

Go anywhere in the world and see the Tick and you know it’s Nike.

So how do you build a personal brand? Firstly you have to understand that successful people’s names are tied to certain traits. To know these people is to know what they are associated with.

Mike Tyson - was the Baddest man on the planet, maybe not the most positive brand which may have led to his downfall but still a brand after all.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Mohamed Ali floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee.

You watched Mike Tyson you saw the raw power and aggression. You knew when he fought it would be explosive. He offered something no other boxer did at the time and people loved him because he was the self-proclaimed Baddest man on the planet.

People watched Mohammed Ali to see the skill, the silky smooth movement and dazzling speed. He offered a masterclass of skill and manipulation. He talked as well as he fought and put on wonderful shows.

In both cases, the paying public knew what they were going to get and each man was loved by their fans. Who was the best? The answer will differ depending on what brand you bought into.

The first step is to define your message and put it into words. Write down on paper - Who do I want to be? And answer the question. Bullet point a few keywords to highlight the answer.

Now how would it feel to my audience if I always told people what to do? If people came to me to be coached and left being lectured too they would be confused. My message would be wrong. I would not be practising what I preach. My brand would be hit hard for the wrong reasons.

To become a personal brand you need to turn heads, You need to understand what you stand for and stand for it. Be yourself and keep your message consistent. When you are consistent people notice. It will take time to become a brand. People need to know, like and trust you before they will consider you.

When you stand for something, people will notice you and that will give you influence. When you have this you have a starting point. From there on you need to do your homework and work with others, pay attention to people and what they need, solve problems and help others. All these actions will help you become a strong brand.

At Taylor Made coaching Aga & I are building our brands, we are often seen out in our area offering help to local people, we care about people’s lives and we genuinely want to help. The content we put out shows people how to improve areas of their lives for free. We often give our sessions away so we can help more people.

We want to be known as coaches who care, we are becoming consistent and living our lives how we coach. Every day we spend time improving ourselves as people and helping others do the same.

All of our work is aimed to give to others, we are getting well known as the coaches who help and give great value. Our coaching company started because we wrote down what we wanted to do, why we wanted to do it, how we would do it and we listened to people tell us what they needed.

We created programmes to help these people and a brand that shows we are able to help small business owners and people looking to improve their lives.

Probably the best example of the power of the subconscious mind is learning to ride a bike, Presuming you learned, you will remember how hard it was to start with. You may have wobbled, fell started and stopped. The process took all of the concentration of your conscious mind, then all of a sudden boom, you got it.
Your subconscious mind took over and riding became a natural thing you could master.

How did it learn? Repetition and positive thoughts are the answer. High achievers use both repetition and positive thoughts to achieve what they want. They understand the power of the subconscious mind very well. They know the subconscious can absorb and manifest any idea you give it.

All over the world people achieve great things, recover from serious injury and disease. Do they do this from thinking negatively and giving up? No, they believe they can.

As Henry Ford said, If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right.

Obviously, it’s better to think you can than can’t, should you want to achieve something great.

Everything comes from our thoughts, we become what we believe. If you believe something is possible then we increase your chances of success,

I always say It is better to believe and try rather than the opposite. Even if I do not completely succeed in what I want, I know that the experience of trying will improve me in some ways.

I’ve trained my mind to look for positives in every situation, that way, even if I ultimately fail I still win. I still find little bits of learning and improvements that I can use for the future,

I knew my negative thinking was holding me back, but I didn’t know what to do about it. Luckily I am pretty positive in life however I had a bad habit of comparing myself to others within my industry.

When I started to use social media I felt overwhelmed with the content I saw from successful people. Rather than learn from people who were better than me at what I wanted to do, I felt insecure and like a failure, I was envious of what they had.

Envious people who focus on others successes find it hard to be happy. They may succeed themselves but as they compare and become jealous of others, their own success seems insignificant. I was exactly the same, I was achieving and doing well but comparing myself to others who in my opinion had achieved more.

This led to a downward spiral in my life, I felt really low. Before social media, I had my network of people and I was comfortable, I was one of the high achievers and proud. On social media I was a nobody, I had no voice or anything worthwhile to say.

I wasn’t a success as I wasn’t posting videos from my private jet on my way to some exotic location.

I started to believe I was a failure. I had so much to be grateful for but wasn’t., I couldn’t see the good I had because I focussed on what I never had. My thoughts became negative and my subconscious mind started to attract negativity to me.

I went from believing I can to a belief that I can’t. My thinking changed and I became sick. Just like that a switch in my thinking started to take away all my enjoyment in life. I no longer felt good about myself or what I had.

Have you ever heard of ‘Parkinsons Law’?

This law was discovered in the 1950’s by Historian Cyril Parkinson.

The Law states - The amount of work required to complete a task is relative to the amount of time available.

I.e. Give someone 2 days to write a report and they will take 2 days, Give a week to complete the same report and the whole week will be used for completion.

In business, many owners apply this law to profits. In this scenario, Time is replaced with money.

In the past, if you gave me £1000 to append on a project, I’d spend it, tell me I had 10K to spend and I’d spend that as well on the same project.

So it seems simple, be conscious of Parkinson’s Law and make a concerted effort to keep the costs down?

There is another problem though, people, Myself very much included tend to focus on what we see first. Show us a list and we usually remember the top of the list over the rest.

In business, profit starts with sales. I like many have focussed way too hard on just sales in the past. I did this because it was the first thing I saw. I needed sales. I wanted sales.

I went all out to get sales because they would give me profit.

The trick I learned was the same as when I got myself out of debt. I started to deduct my profit from my sales and get used to operating without needing the extra money.

In one of my businesses, I wanted 11% profit. So every time I got a sale I transferred 11% to an account that was set up to hold cash only.

No direct debits came out of this account. The money sat there and built up. Doing this did a few things for me.

It gave me less of a sense of security. My old way of paying everything into one account saw my cash build in one place. As the account grew so did my confidence to spend it. I had a large account and as in Parkinson’s Law where time was replaced with Money, I spent it all.

Nowadays I like a main account and sub-accounts and here is why.

When I transfer money into my sub-accounts the money is set aside. The main operating account holds less cash. This helps me because, there is less money to spend, the money in the sub-accounts is held for - Paying myself, paying tax, Company profits.

Now a lot will say, what is the point when you log on to your bank you will see the profit account increasing. It will still tempt you to spend the money. To combat this I have my sub-accounts in a separate bank. This way when I log on to my main account I don’t see the sub-accounts.

I am not tempted.

This strategy also teaches me to do more with less. I have less money in my operating account so I have to be more creative. I look for efficiency and analyse what we do best for our customers. I put systems in to get better at what we do.

So to summarise, the best way to make sure your company makes a profit is to take it first. Pay it into a separate account and do this regularly. If you want a 25% profit but have to many debts to take the whole 25% start with something smaller, even if It is just 1% do that.

Get used to the routing and existing on less money, every quarter increase the 1% slightly and go again until you can up it. Keep turning the dial-up till you get to the 25%.

You will train yourself to get into a routine, You will exist on less money and become more creative whilst not being tempted to spend the whole pot every month as I did in the past.

This strategy really does work and promotes great habits. For more information please email me : lee@taylormadecoaching.co.uk

Can you imagine having financial freedom in your life and living off of investments rather than a wage?

For me, this was a dream that I never thought would be possible. When you are in debt and not earning much money life is hard, To have more money go out than come in is a scary place to live.

When you are a teenager or a young adult living with parents it can be manageable, however, when you have a mortgage and kids to feed the stress of no income can be unbearable.

When I lost my business in 2008 and went from being a high earner to nothing I was scared and worried. I felt so down about what had happened to me and I blamed everything on the government and greedy bankers.

The truth was, it was my fault, I never prepared, I never saved. I never invested. I spent more than I earned and I lived a high life for too long. I should have sorted my finances and investments to work for me before I splashed the cash.

If I had done that I would have avoided the pain and depression of having no money. I could have continued to live a good life even without my income because my investments would have taken care of me.

If I knew back then what I know now!! The trouble is we don’t know we can only learn. For me I made my own mistakes and I learned the hard way. Maybe you have done the same and are looking for a way out. Or maybe you have the foresight to learn from people like me who have made mistakes?

Whatever your reason for wanting a financially free life I can tell you from experience that you can achieve it. In fact, anyone can do it.

Here is how I got myself back on track and started to take control of my finances again. When I lost my business and income, I panicked, I hide away pretending everything would be OK. To the outside world, I was OK, I had money, the big house, flash cars. Inside I was shocked. I had to pay for all this stuff and had no money coming in.

What was I going to do? How would I survive? I knew I had been stupid, I’d not prepared and saved a penny. I was broke and in danger of losing the house.

I started to plan to start a new business but before that I took a quick job selling kitchens. It was commission only and they had me travelling for miles at my own expense to sell. I became that guy who sits in someone’s house pushing for a sale. I hated it but was actually quite good.

I earned a commission every month and kept up with my loan payments.

The problem was I was unhappy and not earning what I was used to. My lifestyle took a massive hit. The one big difference was I was determined not to waste money again. I wouldn’t let myself get into financial difficulty and I would invest rather than spend.

The problem was I didn’t have much leftover at the end of the month. I had to create a habit to make sure I saved whatever I could. To get in the habit I opened a separate bank account and transferred 1% of everything I earned to this account every month.

They say the route to vast wealth and great success is self-discipline applied to personal success, career and happiness.

Before I came successful I had mundane jobs, made no effort, lacked discipline and dreamed a lot. I dreamed of success but never took action.

I made promises, new years resolutions and got myself excited however I never followed through. I forgot, gave up, did something else and blamed others or circumstances.

I started to improve when I wrote things down. Before i did this everything was in my head. Once I wrote things down they became real. There is something about committing to goals on paper. Writing ideas and what you want takes away distractions and focusses on you.

However, you need to first decide what you want. Be very specific here. If you want more money, how much money. If you want to lose weight how much do you want to lose?

After you do this, step 2 is to write down a goal. Again be specific about what the goal is. For instance, I want to enter a bodybuilding competition and compete. Or I want to buy a house with no mortgage.

In step 3 write everything you can do to achieve your goal. List any obstacles you will have to overcome. Skills you will need, people who can help you. Everything you need to make the goal happen.

Step 5 - Prioritize the most beneficial tasks and add them to your calendar. Complete the most important first.

Step 7 - Do some tasks immediately, This releases positive endorphins and gives you a quick sense of achievement. You can capitalise on this mood and get off to a great start.

Find out how I overcame my fears and created the discipline for success here - https://www.taylormadecoaching.co.uk/the-power-of-self-discipline/

We are all different and alike in many ways. Personally, I know very well what I am good at what I am bad at. I try hard at everything I do and I give up easily on things I don’t like doing.

What has made me successful over the years is more to do with knowing what I’m not good at. When you know and accept this you have a choice, carry on and get better or let someone else do it.

If I enjoy something, I’ll carry on and get better, If not I’ll get someone else to do it. By focussing on what I’m good at and enjoy I create more. I’m happier and healthier. If I persevere with what I don’t like or not so good at I get frustrated, angry and create less

It is not hard to work out what is best for me in any situation. I just don’t do the stuff I don’t want to anymore. My only regret is I haven’t always lived my life like that. For years I got up and felt down and wanted to go back to sleep. I had jobs and businesses that didn’t excite me. I was drifting through life doing stuff I had no interest in for money.

I lacked energy and enthusiasm and life was mundane and boring. My life was like a scene from the Film Ground Hog day.

Things shifted for me when I started to read self-help books like Rich dad Poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki. This is a wonderful book about a young boy growing up with a rich and poor father. It shows the difference between the attitudes of the two dads. One dad an educated teacher who is poor and the other a wealthy man who educated himself about money business and life.

Like many who read this book, it was an eye-opener. It made me think about the possibilities I could open up for myself. I started to take interests in business and start little side hustles. It was then things started to change for the better, however, I still had to do a lot of stuff I hated doing.

I worked long hours and sacrificed so much to be successful.

I lost track of friends and family and alienated people in my quest to build a big business. Although I got through these times I could have done them so much better. I could have stepped back and enjoyed myself more. I will never get that time back.

If I knew what I knew then I would tell myself to focus on what I was good at and not waste time with the stuff I’m not. I could have found help and got better people to help me than I did. Building a business is hard work and very difficult to do alone. You need as much help as you can afford to grow rapidly.

If I had my time over, I wouldn’t have worked so hard. My daughter will never remember the days I was at the office working, she will remember the days I wasn’t there as I was working.

So my advice is this, work smart not hard, find out what you are good at and put most of your efforts into these areas. More importantly, be honest about what you are not good at and get help with these areas. When you have people doing the stuff you don’t like but they enjoy, things move faster, life is better. You biome more successful and so does everyone else.

It really is a win win scenario.

One question I hear a lot is - Am I too old to start a business. Many people feel that they have ‘Missed the boat’ or they are too old. They see others much younger and worry about how they will compete.

The internet seems a young person’s game and selling online is an area they feel uncomfortable in. I understand this only too well. When I started out we had a telephone and a diary. We called people and made appointments to visit.

Records were kept manually and business was face to face. It was a great way of working for relationships however it was limited to how many people you could speak with daily.
These days you can reach millions of people with one click of a button. The game has changed and is unrecognizable. I remember when ‘Email’ came out. We could type a letter and not have to walk to the post box, it was exciting.

Then social media and messaging apps evolved. We could connect with people all over the world and build relationships faster than ever. It was here I became scared. I was taught to keep my cards close to my chest. Not to share plans or ideas, don’t tell anything until the contract is signed.

All of a sudden there were people everywhere sharing ideas, collaborating, and doing business together. I, like many people, thought I was too old to get involved. I lacked confidence and was scared of what people would think if I posted a video or commented.

For many years I ignored social media. It was something young people did and not part of my life.

I still have reservations and have to false myself to use social media. It’s not natural for me and I never enjoyed it. However I have gotten better, I do post and I have built a small network of friends. It’s nothing major at this stage but it’s growing. I’m opening up and learning new things.

I get involved and share my opinions. Sometimes I get good feedback and sometimes not. I have learned not to take it personally and get on with my life.

I did this by jumping in and thinking, what have I got to lose? I tried and it went OK. So for anyone holding back on dreams because they have missed the boat or are to old, I would say go for it.

Try your best and see what happens. You may fail or succeed, you won’t know until you try. The only difference is - do nothing and you will definitely fail, at least by trying you give yourself;f a chance.

There is also a lot of help out there, Youtube has a wealth of information on running a business, there are books and courses to get you ahead. Many are very affordable or free.

Or if you really want to increase chances of success there are also mentors like myself, people who have had the same experiences and won. I’m middle-aged and am still starting new businesses. I am learning and improving all the time. I have my insecurities like everyone, but I get help to overcome them.

Don’t let insecurities of age hold you back, reach out and ask for help. As they say, when the student is ready the teacher appears. This happens no matter what the age.

We have decided to start a new business for fun. Over the weekend we were talking and was speaking about how hard things have become for many people.
Lockdown hasn't been easy and so many have lost jobs. during our conversation, we got onto business as we always do and wondered why people don't just start a business of their own.

We agreed it is probably down to confidence and attitude towards security. Most look for employment rather than create employment because that was what was expected of them.

We bring our girls up to believe they can have what they want in life. All they need to do is believe and plan then things will happen. So we decided to put this theory to the test.
We spoke to the girls about business and asked if they would like to have their own company.

Now our girls are 12 8 and 10 months, so the 10 months didn't have much input but the other 2 wanted to start something up. We explained what would be needed from them and that they would have to spend their own money to help get the company started. I'm pleased to say they were in with no moaning or negativity.

Not once did they mention losing money or it being too hard to work, they thought it was a great idea as we would do it as a family. At this stage, we don't even know what we are going to do but we know we are going to do it together.

And this is the great thing about a business, starting once is fun and exciting. It gives you so much pleasure to see ideas happen and start to take shape. We have no idea what we will sell or what level of business we will create, but we have worked out why we want to do it.

We had our very first board meeting on the 13th March 2021 where we brainstormed ideas and decided why we wanted to have a business.

All we know at this stage is our WHY, which is -

To have a business that brings us together as a family, have fun, and bring fun to other people. We want our energy and sense of fun to spread through our community and make a small difference to people's lives. The business we set up will be with the sole intention of making people smile and creating happiness.

That's it at the moment, Meeting one done and we know why we want to start a business. We see a lot of people down at the moment and we want to do something about it. We have ideas of what that may be and we will research all the ideas.

So over the next few months we will come together every two weeks as a family and research, we will look into different businesses that can make people smile and decide if we think they can work or not.

The worse thing that can happen is we don't start anything up, but we would have had a great time planning and learning and our kids will gain such a great education that when they leave school they won't be programmed like so many to just look at one option.

They will be confident and able to build business plans and create their own destiny.

Firstly Happy Mothers Day to all the lovely Mums of the world

Secondly, as it's mothers day I want to talk about the importance of family and knowing how to treat each other.

I live in what we call a 'Blended family' My partner and I each have daughters from previous relationships and now we have a daughter born from the two of us.

So all in all with 4 crazy girls and myself we have a house full of fun and laughter. However, it wasn't always that way. It took time and patience to get to where we are. It took understanding and sometimes arguments to work out what we needed to do.

When Aga & I got together is was a confusing time for our children. Aga had come out of an abusive relationship and I had split from a woman I had been with for 20 years. Whilst the new relationship was good for us, for our kids, it was very confusing.

My daughter was grieving the loss of me from the family home and Aga's daughter was confused that a man she now lived with gave her attention and did not shout at her or her mother.

At first, we could see the negative effects the relationship had on us as parents and we went about fixing it in all the wrong ways. We threw so much love, attention, and gifts at the kids it was relentless. The kids were in a spin, they were overcompensated and confused even more.

We thought we were loving them to the best of our abilities but we weren't. Seeing them still unhappy put a lot of pressure on us as a family. We were arguing and blaming each other.
I was and am protective by nature, My eldest daughter is so important to me and I could see her struggling. On the other hand, I could also see my partner's daughter starting to thrive.
She was benefitting so much from the new relationship and forgetting over the violence she had witnessed in the past. This made me feel even more guilty and depressed.

Starting a new relationship and seeing people suffer is not a nice feeling. Then everything started to change. We worked out we gave the kids too much and offered to much choice. We had put too much pressure on them and made things worse.

We took a quiz called 'The 5 love languages' here we learned how each of us likes to be loved.
It was shocking to see that we all loved each other but in the wrong ways. We loved each other how we love to be loved ourselves.

My daughter and I need to be loved physically, we love hugs, kisses, and touch. This shows us the other person loves us.

Aga & her daughter Love time, they want the person who loves them to spend time with them, to be listened to, and enjoy experiences with.

By throwing gifts at us all meant very little to any of us. I could give my daughter an expensive gift and all she wanted was a hug. Aga would often surround me with questions and invade my space when all I wanted was a kiss and cuddle.

The same for her, I would always hug and kiss her thinking that was how she wanted to be loved, then problems occurred I'd back off to give her space (How I want to be loved) She needed me the most at this point and would get sad with thoughts of me not caring.

Nowadays we understand each other so much more, we love each other how we want to be loved. We talk so much (living in a house with 4 girls I have no choice) and we laugh so much.

Life is so much better now we know how to love each other.

If you can relate to that in your life, I have put a link to the love languages quiz below. It's free and you may well learn a fantastic lesson in Love -

Just under 2 months ago I decided I would like to write a book and I am almost finished.

Well if I am honest I decided to write my book years ago. I only really started writing it 2months ago. Before I would start-stop, give up, and forget about it. Life would take over and something else would come up.

This time however I have written over 50,000 words and only have about 5000 more to write. It’s the first draft and I will have to do 2 more drafts before publishing, however, in two months I got way further than I ever did in all my previous attempts.

So what was different now?

This time I have become what I call a routine Machine. I set my goal and I set up a routine that worked for me. I committed to writing every day for at least 1 hour. I then set a time of day to write and a routine that gets me in the mood.I worked out that If I wrote 1000 words a day, I would roughly have 60,000 words written in 2 months. As I type this I am totally on track to achieve this target.

I also worked out what was the right situation for me to be able to meet this goal. I have a noisy family and everywhere is Locked-down at the moment, so I had to find a solution. The only way I saw it working was to get up before everyone else.

5 am in my house is quiet, apart from the dog snoring outside my office I hear nothing. I can focus and write. I got into a routine and I do the same routine every day. Here is how and why it works for me -

5 am Alarm goes off - Get up immediately, do not lay there as I will fall back to sleep. I know I have work to be done and this is my time. Make the most of it.

5.15 am Make my coffee in my special mug. My daughter gave me a mug for Father’s day, it says ‘The best Dad in the world’ on it. This mug means a lot to me and puts me in a good mood.
I then do a little mini routine where I shake a jar my daughter made for me.

The Jar contains a liquid and stardust. When shaken it mixes together and looks lovely, It represents her love for me and puts me in a great mood.

The other thing I do is open a jar of motivational quotes she wrote for me. I read one a feel the positivity.

5.25 I’m ready to write, my mood is set and I feel good about myself. The words flow and I feel wonderful when I reach my daily target.

I keep doing this until I finish, I know as long as I keep this routine, I will complete the book on time and be able to publish it. The pain of writing is high but the pleasure it will generate when I have my completed book on the shelf will be worth every early morning and letter I typed.

I can’t wait to finish the 2nd and 3rd drafts, agree on a title and write again to announce it has been published.

Not everything in life goes well, sometimes things happen that cause major setbacks. Sometimes it's very small things that almost happen unnoticed that cause the biggest pain.

Usually, I deal with the major things really well, I take it as a challenge and deal with it. It's the small things that often upset me the most. I  guess I find them harder to deal with as I am unaware they have happened.

In this episode, I talk a little about a mental issue I have around face masks and how people wearing them affect my mental state of being.

I am very goal-driven, there is so much to achieve in life and I want to achieve as much as possible.

My partner (Aga) is as well, she loves to plan and work towards the next big thing. At the moment we are working on our fitness together. Three times per week we run along the beach to improve our fitness.

5 weeks ago we couldn’t run for more than a minute, Now we can run for 20 minutes without stopping and we are getting better. Whilst we run we talk about our day, our plans and our future together,

This morning we were discussing my fitness goals and how I am planning to change how I look and feel. Aga, as she often does transitioned into her coaching mode, questioning me and making me think about what I wanted and why.

We do this a lot with each other as it’s good practice and we love to help each other achieve. Towards the end of her coaching session, she asked me what I would feel like when I achieved my goal.

I answered ‘I would feel like I was just at the beginning’ What do you mean she said, surely when you hit your goal you would have finished?

This is where I think differently from other people, many would agree I had finished and I should be happy. For me I am happy but I have just begun. In my mind everything up to the point of my goal is preparation. The hard work really starts when I hit my goal.

I can’t allow myself to think I have finished as Life is all about progressing.

If I want to lose weight and set a goal to lose 1 stone in weight, I don’t finish when the weight is off. I have just started, I want to maintain the weight loss or lose more if needed. If I had the attitude I had finished I may go back to old habits and put the weight on again.

If I study for a new skill, I don’t consider myself finished when I have that skill I try to improve my skill and better it. By having the mindset that when I reach my goal I have just started then I know I will hit my goal and better it.

Goals are a constantly changeable benchmark, The end goal is always the beginning, A new level that I will operate from, and a platform to spring to the next goal.

I find that thinking works for me, It keeps me going and keeps me moving forward. I hit my goals enjoy the moment, then use what I achieved as the start of something new and exciting.

To make positive changes in your life we at Taylor Made Coaching recommend keeping journals. Here is why, when we journal we notice things we would take for granted. Most people we coach are pretty sure they are conscious of all the decisions they make. However quite often they can’t recall everything they did the previous day, who can?.

Let’s take losing weight as an example, how effective will your plan be if you do not know what you are eating? You may be strict to start and maybe you will relax and cheat, you may have little willpower and find it hard to change what you eat. Or you may be completely unaware of what you eat and not realize the damage you are doing to your body.

Keeping a journal will show you exactly what you need to do to succeed. This is not just for weight loss, this is for anything in life that you want to improve on. For example, let’s say you never have any money left at the end of the month. You are in debt and can’t see a way out. You’re worried and need to sort your finances out.

Action point one – Buy a diary or notepad. Nothing too big because you will need to carry it around with you.
Action point two – Decide you will commit to sorting your finances out whatever it takes.
Action point three – Make a commitment for 7 days that you will write down every penny that leaves you and what it was spent on. Write your commitment down and why you are doing it.
Action point four – Every time you spend money and every time a payment comes out of your bank account journal the amount and what it was for. Even if you lend someone money, write it down. You must account for every penny that leaves your account. Make a separate page for every day.
Action point five – Repeat this every day for 7 days.

Luck, happiness, love, whatever you want is always around us. If you are born into a free society with a roof over your head, food, clothes, and the ability to make decisions then you are truly lucky.

The difference between lucky, happy successful people and unlucky, unhappy people is the ability to follow the luck formula.

Being grateful for what you have also is an indicator of how lucky and happy you will be in life

The luck formula is -

Preparation and  personal growth  + Attitude belief/mindset +opportunity (what is coming) + Action /  doing something about it = luckThe more prepared you are coupled with having the right mindset and taking action, the more luck comes your way.

  1. Preparation and growth - consistently improve and prepare yourself, your skills knowledge, expertise relationships, you will be able to take advantage of the opportunity when they arise.
  2. Attitude - need to see situations, conversations, and everyday life as opportunities. You can not see what you don’t look for and you can not look for what you don't believe in.
  3. Opportunity - Luck that isn’t planned for, comes at you quickly - a natural occurrence. The more you look the more comes to you.
  4. Action - now is your job to act on it - this is what separates the successful from the rest. They take action and massive action

Aga’s and my self-development journey is not all business

5 weeks ago Aga & I could not run to the end of the road. Having given birth 8 months ago Aga had more of an excuse than me. I never had that excuse, my fitness declined as a result of a series of unconscious decisions.

In life, we all make decisions that affect our future. Often we make these decisions without thinking, only to kick ourselves at a later date.

I realized that I had fallen into the habit of making bad decisions when I stepped on the scales and saw I was 3 stone over my preferred weight. Lockdown had affected me badly, That’s not true, It was the decisions I made during lockdown affected me badly.

Ultimately I am responsible, I made the bad choices and I was now paying the price of poor health. I had used the excuse of my gym being closed to not train. I was at home more and often unconsciously stood at the fridge finding my latest snack.

The worst thing was, I had made a decision at the start of Lockdown to eat healthily and I was. I couldn’t understand why I was putting the weight on. OK, I wasn’t training much but my eating was pretty good. I wasn’t going out for meals and ordering many takeaway’s, so why the extra pounds around the gut?

When I worked out what had gone wrong, everything changed. It was so simple, everyone can do it.

I started to look for my unconscious decisions and change them to conscious ones instead

This is an extract from a blog my partner wrote on our website -

Today is my birthday and as always I spend time reflecting on the year passed. Last year there was talk of Coronavirus but Lockdown hadn’t hit. I had a wonderful day, full of surprises and a lovely dinner at the Blu Nann, Felixstowe.

I was 7 months pregnant at the time and looking forward to giving birth for the second time. My thoughts of a lovely birth were quickly replaced with anxiety and stress as the world reported the Corona Virus outbreak. Lockdown arrived and my family and I were petrified that the baby could get harmed.

We spent most of our time indoors scared to go out. When we did venture for exercise we kept our distance in fear of what might happen. The uncertainty I had that I would have to give birth alone scared me. My partner missed out on scans and hospital visits and I felt alone at times. This certainly wasn’t how I wanted my pregnancy to be and it upset me greatly.

All through this we were also trying to survive financially as one of our businesses was closed for Covid. The strain this put on us at the time was immense. Looking back I don’t know how we coped.

Thankfully the baby was born on the 8th May 2020 and all was well, my partner was allowed in and we witnessed this miracle together. The pressure of pregnancy and business seemed to vanish as we welcomed little Lucy into the world.

Due to Lockdown we were left to our own devices to bring her up, there were no family or professionals around to give us their opinions, we actually enjoyed this to an extent. We made decisions based on our opinions and had no guilt feelings of maybe doing something wrong.

As the family grew so did my partner and I’s relationship, the extra time together and a new baby really brought us together like never before, We worked out plans to increase our income and supplement the gym closure. We reworked finance deals and reduced our outgoings. We had clarity on what to do and how to do it.

Life started to become really good. As the schools closed this presented extra challenges. Being a mum, business woman and now school teacher was exhausting to say the least. However not all was bad. My partner's daughter from his previous relationship got to stay with us a week on and off. This was amazing for us all. She bonded with her new sister and helped add extra fun to the house.

became such a strong family during lockdown. With all this new energy and enthusiasm for life, I decided to study a diploma in Life coaching to compliment my business. Having a little more time at home I read book after book on the subject, studied my course and completed all the exercises.
This was an amazing experience as not only did I learn how to change the lives of others I learned how to change my own.

I re-sat all my goals and visions for my life with my partner, we analysed everything and made exciting plans. I took my new enthusiasm for life and decided to push our boundaries. I started to eat healthier, run regularly and improve my fitness. Most days I am running along the seafront working my way up to a 10K target.

After my run I am building our other businesses. I managed to do so well, I treated myself to my dream car, a lovely Porsche and I bought a flat for an investment. These are things I never dreamed I would have a few years ago. However with a new mindset, a vision and a plan I made it a reality.

What do you do when your business spirals out of control and takes over your life? In this article I will show you how to take control of your business and get back the Freedom you wanted when you started trading.

Being out of control, spinning many plates and burning yourself out is no fun. Setting up and running a business can be time consuming. Every day counts and you must do so much to succeed.
When you start a business It’s exciting, especially at the start when everything is new and needs testing. However if things go wrong or grow too fast you can quickly lose the enthusiasm and start resenting your business.

You may find your workload increases as you struggle to keep going, or an upturn in business surprises you and you have to dig deep to keep up.The extra hard graft needed can impact negatively on your personal life and you stop having the fun. Of course we are all different, some love the hard work, the hustle and grind. They live to be at the office 7 days a week working for 12-18 hours a day.

For me I never wanted that life. As they saying goes ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ The unfortunate thing was, I quickly started to live that life. When I bought my company back in 2010 I was thrown in at the deep end. I had employees for the first time, I had work and ways of doing things that were completely new to me. Basically I had purchased a nightmare.

The enthusiasm I had presale quickly disappeared. I felt consumed and out of my dept. I hated going to work and hated how I was changing as a person. I lost contact with all my friends, I was tired and stressed all the time.

I went from having a lovely life with a great work / home life balance to working 7 days a week. I was often oncall working through the night. I had no time for family and my life went into free fall.

Even though I was the new boy, I was the owner of the company, so everyone would come to me to ask what to do. I made it up as I went along and tried my best to look like I knew what I was doing.

Inside I was scared and lonely, outside I was acting and playing the brave business owner working so hard to be a success.

I actually lived my life like that for years. Looking back I have no idea how I did it. If it was now a decade later, I don’t think I would have the energy to see it through. I may have quit.

Luckily I educated myself and I learned of a way out. I learned how to take control and step back from the business.

At this stage of my life I wanted a company where it supplemented my life and did not consume me. I did not want to work 7 days a week. I had a small baby and I wanted to spend time with her.

I knew if I couldn’t turn things around I would sell up. I also needed to turn things around to make a living and support my family. It was a vicious circle I was trapped in.

Then came the simple method I still use today to take control, I built a system. I built systems that worked for my employees, my business, my customers and myself.

Providing for one’s family can be a daunting task, especially as income dries up. Having children can be stressful at the best of times, children not being at school whilst you try to work can be ultra stressful.

So how do you cope? Especially if you are out of work and trying to find another job or start a new business? This is a tricky one, personally I have found it easier than most because I have worked from home for many years. The only difference I have now, is I rarely go to my office anymore. In the past the office offered a nice break and quiet times with adult only conversation.

Now I am surrounded by an 8 month an 8 year old and a 12 year old. Trust me, working out how to increase a business and make more money is not made easier when home schooling and entertaining kids is thrown into the mix. It can be done however by creating good routines and planning ahead.

It’s not easy however, and even harder when your back is against the wall and you have financial worries. This is something I know all too well from my past and more recently as my gym has been forced closed more than it has been open.

There is nothing worse than trying to keep a brave face on things at home when you have worries at work. I regret to say I have not always been able to get that part right. In the past I could never switch off. I would be obsessed with working until I solved a problem, even if this meant I stayed up all night thinking about it.

It was so tired and stressed. My kids would want to play and I would make a half arsed attempt to interact whilst texting, calling and emailing people. I missed so much because I was never present in the moment. My relationships suffered and I did as well.

These days I stress much less, I have learned to control what I can and leave what I can’t. I have more time with my family and enjoy myself much more. My businesses are doing much better and I have far fewer problems to sort out.

The biggest contributing factor to me becoming more successful at home and work was one simple thing that you may not believe. It was hard to do at first and I was scared to do it. But when I did it changed everything. I became less stressed, more energised, happier and focussed. My relationships got better and my time with the children improved.

The single best thing I did was put my mobile phone out of sight. Many will feel terrified about doing this but it’s a game changer. The problem with mobile phones are, they are not just phones. They hold everything a pc would and more.

My phone is like a friend with benefits. I use it at times that are convenient and leave it when I have better things to do. Here's why -

When you lose a job, it isn’t good enough to just send a CV out to anyone and everyone, sit back and wait. Make a plan of action instead. Work out what you need to do and when.

Sit back and ask yourself a question:

“How can I take immediate control of my life?”

Then Decide what you really want to achieve in life, stay focused on your results and make a commitment that no matter what happens around you, your decision stands and you will do your very best to get the results you desire.  Your decisions will determine the actions you need to take and different actions produce different results.

We as humans always run from Pain to pleasure, it is how we are made. Problem is when you want to make changes and get out of your comfort zone you have to go through some pain to get to the pleasure.

Always ask yourself. what the outcome will be by going through the pain? If it's positive, make a decision to do it and go for it.

Keep pushing through the pain and you will get what you want.

Starting again after years in the same job can be daunting. Many feel scared that they won’t be able to find long term employment again.

What do you do if you now find yourself out of work? Many do what they know best, send their CV out as much as possible and look for another job. They jump into a huge stream of people trying to swim upstream to get to the one job at the end.

So how do you take fear and anxiety away when all around you is falling apart? Here are 3 quick wins to help you take control and get back in the game.

1. Talk to people, don’t keep everything to yourself.

I have been guilty of this in the past. I thought a problem shared was a problem doubled. I would stress and strain all night long looking for solutions. These days I have people around me who I know and trust. Everything has improved since I started opening up.

My home life is way better because my partner understands my pain and can help me. I get solutions quicker because I can talk to smarter people than me. Friends who have been through the same experience or educated in an area you struggle are often a source of Free help. Failing that there are always coaches and mentors who can guide you.

2. Learn a new skill.

Life is competitive, if you find yourself out of work take it as an opportunity to learn something new. I recently mentored a Black Cab driver, his income has almost ground to a halt because of the Pandemic. As a consequence, he did a handyman course and offered his newfound talents to his local community. Whilst not earning the same as before, he has a purpose and an income to support himself and his family. He will return to the cab when Londoners return to work but he has new skills and is enjoying life again. The stress he had has gone, he has multiple sources of income now and the ability to reinvent himself if needed.

3. The Goal activity

When you lose a job, it isn’t good enough to just send a CV out to anyone and everyone, sit back and wait. Make a plan of action instead. Work out what you need to do and when. A great technique I teach people is what we call the ‘Goal activity’

Start by writing out the Goal you want to achieve. Be specific and really think about what you want. If it is another job – where do you want to work? Who for? What Location? What job title? What Salary? What does the office look and feel like? How do you look and feel like?

As you write, write in the context that you have already achieved your goal. Do this to embed it in your mind what you want and how it will feel.

Now give yourself a date you achieved your goal on. It must be realistic, as does your goal. No point in writing on the 3rd of March 2022 I landed my dream job of Astronaut and was the first man on the moon. That job has already been fulfilled.

Now you have a goal you want to achieve and a date you want to achieve it by do this……Write down at least a minimum (and I mean minimum) of 20 things you can do to achieve your goal.

Don’t worry about the order, just write 20 or more things to do. The more you can write the better.

Once your list is complete pick out 2 or 3 reasy things to do and do them immediately. Doing this will put you in a great mood and get you on track to getting what you want.
Mark all the other list entries as a number….

  1. Really important
  2. Important
  3. Not so important but needs doing
  4. Someone else can do this for me

Place all your tasks into your diary and start working through them. This exercise will give you so many ideas and get you excited. Just by doing and executing will help you keep focussed and take away negativity.

I have learned to build sysyems that people can follow and work without me being there.

I can now take days off and work when I want. Before I was a slave to my business, working 7 days a week often through the night. I was tired and stressed.

Protecting wealth is paramount. Below is part of the transcript for you.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the midlife journal with myself Lee Taylor it's Valentine's day tomorrow so today I am going to be getting the house or decorating the lounge or decorated at least into a love lounge. So, my partner and I, and the kids can do something really special together tomorrow to celebrate Valentine's Day, you know, not a typical day for us normally would try to go out and do something and have a have a nice meal in the evening. But as you know, restaurants or shop, you know we're not allowed to go out and socialise and in joy ourselves anymore so we have to make do, and come up with alternatives so it's gonna be a different Valentine's but special nonetheless I'm really really looking forward to it. So, that's my morning sorted out I've got to go to collect some bits and bobs and come back and get everything done and ready for tomorrow. But today is all about money, you know, I want to talk a bit more about money, you know we talked about money problems come on yesterday you know the problems we have when we don't have money, the problems we have when we do have money, you know, and money doesn't solve your problems, you know, in my experience, it makes life easier. But if you, if you don't protect your wealth and if you don't have strategies in place. Then, actually, it can add to your problems you know the more money you get the more worry you have, because, you know, things can escalate quite quickly, especially if you invested in getting it right. And you've accumulated a lot of wealth, very quickly. Your life can change it can change considerably. And you've really got to think about how you're going to deal with that and how you're going to offset the problems that do come with having money and you know, I've had money in the past and I've had problems and I've not always dealt with it. The best way so luckily on the course I'm doing at the moment, they're talking a lot about this and I do, I do empathise with it a lot because I've been there, and I'm excited to sort of be learning about the way they're setting up their investments so I can sort of copy and and put their, their teachings into place to protect myself in the future and make sure I don't stress and strain over what's going to be happening because, you know, I can see the wealth building up quickly. You know, I think I said, you know, I've been buying for a while just basically as a hobby. And it's built up and it's built up a lot, and I look at my account sometimes and I'm like, Whoa, that's not frightening, you know it's it's scary how quickly it's built built up. And don't get me wrong I'm very very happy about it but it does give you, it does give you problems for instance, one of the problems I had was when I first started buying the kryptos I just left everything on the exchanges, what I did is probably what most people do. You know I just bought it left it on the exchange didn't worry about it. And then I started to learn about, you know, people getting hacked and you're losing your money and you really got to store it on a cold wallet to make sure it's it's safe. So that was a worry straightaway, you know, bloody hell if this happens I've lost everything is going to be a nightmare so I had to teach myself how to, how to transfer everything over and that was a worry transferring over Did I do it right. Did I do it wrong, you know that you got that lag between sending the money and receiving it and it's horrible. You know it's literally horribly 10 minutes sometimes for it to hit your screen and sites they are and all that time especially doing it for the first time I did a little bit to start off with just to make sure you know,

but even that not nice you know really really not nice and then it hits your account and. Oh, you've got a sigh of relief so you know these things can be quite stressful a

Elon Musk puts 1.5 Billion into Bitcoin and pushes the price up 20% overnight. In this episode i talk about why I was happy to miss out on some of this gain and why you should be aware of problems both rich & poor people suffer from.

Part of the Transcript of the show is below for a taster.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the midlife journal with myself Lee Taylor, where we're going to be getting back onto the investment scene again I'm going to be talking about what I've been learning through my investment course because things have got really really quite excited in the cryptocurrency world if you if you follow it, like I do, you would have seen that, you know, Bitcoin went up massively over the last few days.

I was actually gutted in one respect because I wanted to send some money to the exchange to buy some. And I had I'm sending it from a new account, and the account couldn't verify the bank account where I wanted to send it to. So it just limited me to 1000 pounds, and I wanted to send 5000 worth of Bitcoin. And I couldn't do it.

So I had to wait 12 hours for the other 4000 to go through to make sure I wasn't being scammed which I knew it wasn't but hey ho, and I woke up the next morning and Bitcoin have gone up 20% so I missed out, but it's life you know you can't win all the time Hey these things happen I'm not gonna get myself down about it, an actual fact I was really happy because I found out that it went up so much because Elon musk put in 1.5 billion 1.5 billion into bitcoin. Now, why was I happy about that. Well, it's probably the first and last time I'll ever be ahead of Elon Musk, I've actually bought Bitcoin before he did. And I'm really quite chuffed about that. I've had it for quite some time. And it appears that he's just getting into it so. Okay, I'll swap he's 1.5 billion for my five grand any day to week, but I still got that little bit of a sense of achievement that I was in there first and, you know, I do have a fair bit invested so you know that 20% increase did make me a good whack. So, you know, it wasn't all doom and gloom though I didn't get the extra four grand in there. I was still very, very pleased.

Unknown 2:12

But as I've said in the past. I don't really care about the price. In actual fact I'd prefer it if it went down, because I want to continue buying this for the long term. And I want to be an investor in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for for a long time to come.

I've got a plan to put money into it every month. So for me, if the price did come down. It's better for me because I can buy more, because I don't plan on selling you know I'm not a seller. I'm not a trader I'm an investor. So, I'll be lending my money out I'm gonna create my own bank. I'll be lending my money out so I'm really not bothered about it. Going up at this stage in fact I probably do want it to come down more than go up, because I can buy more, you know I can get more for my money that's what it's all about.

I was on the course and there was talking about protecting your wealth and how we how we kind of value money from a perspective of where we are in the financial ladder. Now, you know, I grew up in a council estate in Dagenham reasonably poor family didn't have a great deal you know not not saying we had nothing, we had a. We had a nice life I had a great life rarely but we didn't have a lot, you know money was always tight, it was always scarce. So, you know, I grew up with very very little I think I had about 400 pounds to my name when I left school. So, by no means are long, a lot of money.

Unknown 3:53

I never come from an investing family or anything like that and my family had no idea how to invest money they, they were in the rat race they they ear

Living with a Polish girl can be quite strange at times. Thay do have lots of different traditions. Today is just one of them. Its called Fat Thursday.
Basically we have to eat junk food allday to keep bad luck away. Sounds crazy. but this is real.

Today I talk about some of the other traditions they have. Like Wet Monday and the drowning of a female scarecrow.

However I must be careful as the Poles take these seriously and I certainly do not want to upset her indoors.

A bit off topic for me but also fun to learn and record these quirky traditions.

I sat in on a branding masterclass yesterday and was shown some transformations that happened from re-branding.

The person giving the talk said everything within a companies branding must evolve from - what you say, do and see.
It's not good enough to have a logo and website then expect people to understand what you do, or even find your company.

We live in a world full of information and it is hard to stand out.

If you keep in mind that whatever you say and do and whatever you clients see should have the same message and branding, then you will be ahead of the game.

For years I chased a dream that I thought I wanted but didn't. I wasted time working towards things that made me unhappy.
I thought I wanted to build a company trading all over the world when the reality was I wanted a business that gave me everything I wanted financially and time with my family.

It wasn't until I understood this that I started living the life I wanted and becoming financially free.

Starting in business can be a challenge. Keeping costs down by spinning multiple plates can drive you insane.
However the lessons you will learn can be so valuable when outsourcing.

In this episode I talk about how you will need to outsource and delegate if you want to grow a company. It is impossib;le to grow otherwise.
Hpwever delegating is a skill and you need to know what questions to ask and how to manage.

Listen in for a few tips on what I have learnt over the years.

Start now and get perfect later is the title of a book by a businessman called Rob Moore. It's a very good book and well worth a read, however the beiigest lesson is in the title.
Sometimes in life it's best to jump in and start then figure the rest out as you go along.

By starting at least we get going. Better to start and fail and learn something than not start and learn nothing.

In this episode I talk about how I start and worry about the nuts and bolts later and when I get stuck how I seek help.

My motto is 'fail and fail fast' I'm not scared to fail. If I do I try not to waste to much time as this serves no purpose. However if I am failing I will always seek help first.

Seeking help puts a different perspective on things and helps or confirms you are right to give up.

Today I talk about why I do not listen to the news and listen to main stream media. I find by cutting out the negativity I keep more positive.
Today I talk about how keeping positive gives me clarity of thought. How having clarity is important.
I need clarity and visions to give me hope. I plan everything and want to control what I can and forget about what I can't.

Even in these days where It's hard to plan I still do so. I think it is better to get excited about what can happen and take a chance than do nothing and play it safe.

I even create clarity and visions for my personal life. Making visions with your loved one can turn your relationship around. We are making lists of all the things we can do in Lockdown together.

We won't let this Lockdown beat us and just go through the motions. We will do things together and take our relationships to another level.

I give some tips on how to avoid gambling with yor money and what to do to get out of the rat race.

I travelled to London to buy a product that I could have got for £1500 less 10 miles from my house.
Why did I do this? Basically because the company in London did a better job selling to me. They gave me options, described the product, answered questions and gave me confidence.

They presented such a good service I prefered to travel 200 miles rather than 20 and pay more.

The only worrying thing was walking around the city Centre whilst waiting for the product to be packaged up. London is dead. There is no-one there. In this episode I talk about why I am now super worried about the future of the economy and why I believe everyone will need sales training to compete.

This is the start of this journey and I am happy to share it and my progress.

Being in our comfort zone is safe and secure but it harms us. If your a business not moving forward you are dying and if you are a person not improving you are missing out on so much.
In this episode I talk about how I get out of my comfort zone and improve myself for the better.

Taking little steps to move forward every day helps me get to where I want to go and stops me missing out. I push myself but take small steps that are achievable.

My way isn't for everyone, some have way more ability than me and way more belief to get out and take more for themselves.

For me I want to keep improving but not over work and over commit. I want family time and fun as well as constant development. I am still ambitious and will suceed using my methods but not on the scale of some.
This however is perfectly Ok as we should never compare ourselves to others. In doing so we play a dangerous game of constant dissapointment.

Lockdown can be tough on frelationships. Most places to go are closed and many are shut indoors with no excitemement about the future.

For my partner & I we have very little alone time. Spending quality time together is so important and it's not happening right now.

In this episode I talk about how we will change that and flip it into a positive. How we will do things together that we may not have thought about in the past.

Our aim is to be together for the rest of our lives and we will only achieve that if we enjoy each others company.
Listen to find out how we plan to create that enjoyment again even during lockdown.

Having spoken about investing in Bitcoin I thought it would be good to share with you what Bitcoin actually is.

Basically it is a digital currency that was invented in 2009. The idea was to transfer currency over the internet outside of the traditional systems.
This has resulted in a currency that can not be controlled by Governments, banks or large corporations.
Bitcoin smashes down barriers, you can transfer it all around the world even if the receiver doesn't have a bank account.

I believe Bitcoin has the potential to change the world. Bitcoin could actually end up being safer than cash.

There will only ever be 21 million bitcoin and they are released slowly by a process called mining. This means that will be rare and unlike traditional cash will not be diluted like money is when new money is printed and backed by nothing.

The problem for Bitcoin is the price fluctuates like crazy, It really goes up and down a lot, this scares a lot of people and is a major reason why they stay away.
Also people think of it as an underground currency that is used mainly by criminals and it scares them.

I see Bitcoin as still in it's infancy, Early adopters are buying and if it becomes more poular and the masses start to buy the price could rise a lot. It is not a get rich quick scheme and anyone buying has to beware of the fluctuations.

However there is a possibility that Bitcoin will become a store of wealth in the future just like Gold & Silver. This could be an exciting opportunity as by then more people could be interested in investing.

There are issues with storing Bitcoin that can put people off buying and if you do not store correctly there is a danger of losing everything. I will talk about storing in later episodes.

I must stress that I am not recommending you buy Bitcoin and I am not advising in any way. All I do is share what I do. If you decide to buy or not then that is solely your choice.

I'm back on track and feeling good. Whenever I feel good I make plans and today I made my first plan of 2021.

The way I start my plan is to do what I call a 'Goal activity' This helps me achieve anything I want as long as it is realistic and achievable.
There would be no point in seting a goal to land on the Moon at my age and considering I am not an Astronaut.

So how do you do it and get what you want?

Firstly start with what you want to achieve, be specific and precise so it is clear.
Then make your goal measurable - set a date you want to achieve your goal. Again be precise and realistic. Give yourself time. when you write down your date write in the present text as if you have already achieved the goal. This sets your brain for acceptance that you have got what you want.

i.e. By 1st July 2021 my beusiness generates £5,000 extra income per month.

Then state why you want to achieve what you want.

The last stage is to brainstorm and come up with a minimum of 20 ideas that you can do to make your goal happen. Aim for more than 20 but never less than 20.

At the end of the list you will have a great basis of tasks that will get you what you want.

Pick out the easy wins and do them straight away, then plan to cross off a task everyday. The quicker you get through the tasks the quicker you achieve your goals.

This is an amazing excercise and really works so give it a go

In this episode I talk about the power of having a positive mindset and how you can use your mind to create excitement. I talk about how easy it is to get angry with what is going on in the world and how you shouldn't waste time thinking and stressing about things you can not control.

Investing for my future is something I have put off for way to long. I have wasted so much money over the years. Instead of saving I spent money like it was going out of fashion.
Now as I get older I recognise that at some stage I will retire and I will need a good plan to make sure my lifestyle does not decline.

Nowdays I am learning to make bucket allocations to my wealth.
I have strucured my buckets like this -

Bucket 1 - Security Bucket - Boring low risk assets that will keep me going if I loose everything. Here I have Gold, silver and some cash.

Bucket 2 - Retirement plan A - Here I have higher risk assets that I aim to add to every month and keep hold of. All profits will be re-invested and never touched. This bucket will be held as security just in case bucket 3 & 4 Fail. It will give me diversity.

Bucket 3 - Retirement Plan B - Here I will hold higher risk assets like Bitcoin and crypto currency. Like with Bucket 2 I will add to this every month and keep adding without taking any profit. I hope this will compound up and give me great returns for the future.

Bucket 4 - This will be my dream bucket. Here I will invest again in high risk as bucket 3. However here the investmement will be for things I want. I aim to dream big and invest to make my dreams come true. When my bucket is full I will take out the money and buy what the bucket was intended for.

The world is going down the toilet and the liklehood of a business surviving is grim. If you currently have a job or are self employed you are gambling on having one income.
This is not a good place to be.
When companies start to make mass redundancies and business fails, how are you going to survive?

My advice is to start something on the side that can bring in a second income. Or study something that wil make you valuable to your employer.
Being ahead of the game means taking advantage of every little thing you can.

Don't sit around waiting for things to come back. Make sure you educate yourself and protect your future.

When you look at investing for the future you need to know where you are financially. This week I spent some time working out how much money I have to spend every month.

The purpose of the excercise is to see if my income is more than my expenses. When you know the figures you can work out a way forward.

If you have more expenses than income you know where you can start to make cuts and how much more you need to earn.
If you are lucky to have more income and a surplus you know how much you can start investing right away.

I woke up this morning quite angry about the latest UK Lockdown. Yet again I have to close my business with no notice or support and it makes me question - who are the vulnerable at the moment? Is it the elderly or is it businesses owners who are losing everything?

This episode is a little rant and bitch about what is going on. I try to spin it a little by looking at what is good in my life and where I can find some small wins.

Often we find ourselves getting so angry and distracted about what is bad in our lives, we forget what is good. By focussing on good and small wins helps us keep motivated and energised to deal with the crap.

If you are like me and struggling / trying to improve why not connect with me on Facebook @coach.leetaylor
I would love to hear and connect with like minded people going through the same journey as me.

What do you do when your'e loosing 20K per month and Bailiffs are knocking at your door?
For me I put my head in the sand and hoped it would go away.

Did it? Of course not, the problem just got worse.

In this episode I talk about how I got myself out of this horrible situation and some of the tools I used to help myself turn things around.

If you are struggling and finding life tough then there is help out there. I urge everyone to act now and act fast. It can be so hard when your depressed and life in consuming you.

However with the right plan and support, you can change things for the better.

Often we do things we don't want to. We moan and groan and put things off. I have a problem doing things that are not work related. I love to work and find it hard to switch off.
I've always seen relaxing and switching off as a negative.

But switching how I think about things has changed so much for me. By looking at switching off as a benefit to others creates win win scenarios.

After a session with my coach I realised that I have good intentions but often do things from a selfish stance. So now I am looking at what I am doing and looking at why I am doing.
I then annalyse and look for how my actions benefit others.

By doing this I get more excited about doing things as I see more benefits. In this episode I talk about some of the changes I am making and the advantages they are giving me.

With so much information and content thrown at us it's hard to filter the negativity. The mainstream media is depressing and social media is Fake.
With so many people to follow, messages of what to do can contradict and confuse.

People are looking for quick fixes, quick happiness hits and quick gratification.

In this episode I talk about filtering the content that comes your way, making long term plans for success and hapiness and breaking them into smaller manageable plans that are easily achieved.

When you get into the habit of completing your daily tasks and filtering the crap from your life you will start to feel happier and more filfilled.

As I get older I seem to be more obsessed about things. I feel time is running out and I am scared that I will miss out.
My obsessive behaviour has cost me so much in the past, my marriage being one of the things that was destroyed.

Now I am trying to live in the 'NOW' but it's hard. I still focus to much on the future.
In this episode I talk about my obsessive personality, how it affected me and my family and what I intend to do about it.

I'm starting to relax a bit more now and bring a little more into the show around my personal life.
Today I talk about an altercation in a shop that nearly got me arrested and I go on to discuss creating systems that work well.

All the changes I am making and the things that are happening are very current to recording and together we can use all this information to build better lives and businesses.

Here we discuss starting systems that will work for you. I will go over systems in the next few episodes as there is a lot to cover.

On this journey we will start to create systems that we can use in our personal and working lives.

When done correctly these systems will help change our lives for the better and take us to new levels

People thrive on routine. To be successful you need to be a routine machine.
Here I talk about the importance of creating a routine that moves you towards our goals.

The trick is to make small manageable changes that are easily implemented.
Don't rush and change everything it will overwhelm you. Take it easy and keep making small changes, They will all add up and help you get to wherever it is you are going.

In this episode I talk a bout the importance of knowing what you want.
For us to re-invent and re-educate we need to know where we ant to go.

As soon as this is defined we have an idea of what we want and we just have to plan out how we get it.

It's so important you do this first. Knowing exactly what you want is the key to success.

We can work out all the nuts and bolts in future episodes. So for now listen away and work out what you want to get out of the changes you will be making in your life.

Re-inventing yourself and re-educating yourself in later life can be a challenge. When you have commitments it is not as easy to drop everything as it was in your youth.

My Name is Lee Taylor, I am a middle aged man looking to re-invent myself. I see massive changes coming in the way we all live our lives and I know that If I continue to do what I always did I will fail.

This is my Journal about how I will make the changes needed whilst raising a young family and working on the 3 businesses I need to pivot.

To add to the task, I'm also overweight, out of shape and stressed out. So this is not going to be easy. I have so much to learn and do.

The journey we are about to embark on will involve improving -

My personal life
My businesses
My Health

I will make daily updates on what I am doing and document what I am learning. The shows will be about 20 minutes to keep them fresh and interesting.

I have linked to my Facebook and Insta pages. Please feel free to connect with me.

I hope you enjoy the show,

Regards
